People will be so mean to teenagers do you literally not remember what it was like to be sixteen. Every time I talk to a teenager I feel I should hold their hands and tell them I think they're one of the bravest people on the planet just for choosing to endure but I don't because I don't want to be creepy.

The explicitly pornographic ads paired with porn bans to appeal to advertisers is really aggravating, but I also want to take a moment to complain about really disgusting ads. Cartoon person with disturbingly photorealistic boils and shit, getting giant worms pulled out of their bodies, body horror shit like that. What the fuck is this supposed to be advertising? Why would you show this? Why can't I block it? It always pops up when I'm trying to eat, too. Why is this allowed? Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you FUCK YOU

Love it when people in political discussions treat "this will cause millions of deaths" as a definitionally absurd, hyperbolic argument and not a thing that actually happens and has happened many times in the past and is in fact currently happening in many parts of the world. Like yeah, that's politics. That's statecraft. That's what the stakes are. Didn't you know?

I'm so fascinated by people who seem to believe that analyzing media is somehow taking the joy out of it. Like. Do you not enjoy thinking? Does taking stuff apart and figuring out how it works not give you a hit of dopamine? And you get mad when you see people having fun in this way? What a sad, miserable way to engage with the world.

media literacy includes understanding why a media product was made, to whom it's being sold, and the assumed preferences of its marketing demographic. narrative is not produced or sold in a vacuum.
