After Uraraka’s speech and a nice hot bath, Deku can’t seem to do anything without panicking. Will class 1-A be able to push through his savior complex with snacks, movies, and blankets?

I just started watching MHA for the first time a couple months ago when my life went totally wrong for probably the 100th time in the past 2 years, and let me tell you I’ve cried so much over this anime. Everything hits wayyy too close to home, especially for someone like me who is nerdy, cheerful, and has crazy big dreams.

I just got to Deku’s vigilante arc, and I’m not totally through it yet— but it’s so sad to see Deku in this awful state. At the same time he’s just solidifying himself even more as my favorite character.

My whole life I’ve struggled with severe anxiety to the point where I have almost no childhood memories (I’m finally being treated for it), a bad savior complex (I’m making good progress with this one though), and I’ve been through some very dangerous run ins with depression. To see Deku, who is nerdy and silly like me, look so much like how I did during the darkest periods in my life really strikes a chord.

The way this arc has demonstrated the stages of depression is amazing to me. I totally get that isolation feeling, like you need to protect others from yourself. This anime has also perfectly captured the numb feeling of just going out on your own, and basically doing everything in auto pilot. Like, how did they capture this so well? What Deku is doing reminds me of when I’d suddenly drop everything and get in the car and drive with no purpose— I just go from one thing to the next without telling ANYONE that I’m leaving. I don’t answer my phone, I sucked at eating.

But they’ve also gone and captured that through the numbness, depressed/anxious people still care. We may isolate, but we still FEEL and care. Gosh, I don’t love that Deku is depressed, but I DO love that this feels like an accurate representation of a savior complex + depression.

My savior complex drove the doctors to want to put in a mental hospital at one point, and so Deku feels like a big bandaid over my heart as I’m still trying to recover from these things.

I started playing the quest tonight! (why I’m up so late…) and WHAT ARE THESE VISUALS?? Stunning!!!! (Not as stunning as my beautiful son, Durin, however 💜)

I really love the hand mechanic! (it feels heavily inspired off Tears of the Kingdom, LOL) it’s so satisfying to watch it light up and be able to move it and feel the vibrations in my controller! I’m honestly just playing through the quest because I want Primos for Lohen… and boy, is it sure giving me gems!

I am a lucky girl! My eyes are blessed, my bank account is blessed, and so is my night! I’m petty happy about this! Dunno what everyone else’s thoughts are, but these are mine!
