Not all women become mothers. This might sound obvious, especially in an era when the number of adult females who don't have kids is higher than ever. But it's a message that bears repeating, especially since our culture usually treats parenthood asā¦
Childfree characters in Movies, TV Shows, and Books
Iād like to see a movie or TV show where being childfree is explicitly mentioned, but doesnāt end in someone only being happy with kids.
The current representation for the childfree comes as follows:
Childfree people donāt exist or matter.
Thereās something wrong with being childfree.
Childfree people cannot be happy, successful, or satisfied. Instead, they have to be ācuredā of being childfree.
Some of the most popular examples of the childfree include:
Christina Yang from Greyās anatomy (TV Show)
Robin Scherbatsky from How I Met Your Mother (TV Show)
Donna from Parks and Recreation (TV Show)
Happy Endings (TV Show)
Samantha from Sex and the City (Movie)
Carrie from Sex and the City
Frank Underwood from House of Cards (Netflix Series)
Spock from Star Trek
A lot of the Star Trek characters are childfree, actually.
Sherlock Holmes
Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter (Movie Series)
Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter
The Dinklbergs from Fairly Odd Parents (TV Show) (Hint: DINK)
Dr. Mary Albright from 3rd Rock from the Sun (TV Show)
Bobby from Supernatural (TV Show)
Greg House from House MD (TV Show)
Phil Coulson from the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Any Jedi (Not Anakin) from the Star Wars Movies
Fry and Leela from Futurama (TV Show)
Stanley and Stanford Pines from Gravity Falls (TV Show)
Annaliese Keating from How to Get Away with Murder (TV Show)
Elaine Benes from Seinfeld (TV Show)
Diane Chambers from Cheers (TV Show)
The whole Bob Newhart Show
The Good Life (UK Sitcom)
Larry David and Cheryl in Curb your Enthusiasm (TV Show)
Eat Pray Love
Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote (TV Show)
Help me add to this list!!!

āCongratulations - you just made a conversation about salad and hamburgers about the struggle of childbirth.ā
TBH Parentfriends, Iām probably tired of looking at pictures of your kid every other day, so I just hid you from my Newsfeed, because whatās important to you isnāt all that important to me. Sorry, not sorry, no oneās feelings got hurt.
But if you start mommyjacking my posts, I will 100% make you cry into your keyboard.
#how unsatisfied are these people with parenthood that they have to validate themselves like this

Kids are awesome! In moderation.Ā
Iām so excited to have finally finished this comic.Ā Iāve been working on this idea for a while, and expanded it from a shorter comic. Here is the original, and a longer description of why I donāt want kids and why thatās totally okay. Thanks for reading!Ā

This blog is anti-Trump and is also anti-white liberalism that thinks a protest vote wonāt hurt people already oppressed.

if you meet a single and/or childfree woman in her early thirties or older, and you feel compelled to question whether she feels the clock ticking, and enlighten her on how natural it is for a woman to want children and really, isnāt she going to regret this when time runs out
Donāt.
Just. Donāt.
Youāre not the first to tell her, believe me. And itās fucking annoying and invasive so please just stop before even starting
theĀ āthats what we were put on the earth to do!ā sentiment towards having kids is so fucking gross. like, seriously? thats it? my higher purpose is just to pop out babies? not end world hunger or bring about world-wide disarmament and usher in an era of peace or find the cure to a terrible disease? my purpose is just to be a mother? like, look lady, i get that ur old and grew up in a miserable, sepia-toned time where everyone was happily misogynistic but donāt spout this shit to me. its insulting to everyone with a functioning uterus. ur stripping away our personalities, hopes, dreams, goals, and fears, and focusing on our reproductive organs. ur ignoring what truly makes us who we are and looking solely at our biology. its spitting in the face of our academics, our achievements, our hobbies and saying its no good because it isnāt a child. fuck you. fuck you and your crumbling ovaries, deborah. my higher purpose is beyond the thankless job of a mother. my higher purpose is whatever i fuckin make it to be.
I'd like to point out that it's plenty clear to those who have non-functioning uteri. I can't have kids. I don't want to have kids. *waves*

me: i donāt want to be a parent.
them: ok but once you have kids youāll change your mind.
me: yikes.
I hate the fact that people are conditioned to assume that anyone with a uterus is automatically inclined to like children, want children, or able to care for children in anyway and I'm so glad to have found a community that understands how I feel. It's hard to express my dislike for children with friends and family because...well, they all like/have children and I don't want to hurt their feelings. But at age 25 I'd gladly move into a retirement home just to get away from people under 18.
I like kids. My lifelong goal was to be a teacher and I have 30 years of training and experience to work with children. I just donāt want any of my own. I canāt have any so that all works out nicely.
