Honestly imo for now the powercreep at the moment has calmed down, main point for NOW. There’s no telling what will be done later on this version and which characters will be pushed out but FOR NOW the elation teams are at the same level as mono rem and e9, with the hypercarry teams being just under and the dot and superbreak teams at the same level as well around there and all teams are at a similarish cost with Eva probably being the lowest along with archer depending on how you count cost.

What I believe hoyo is doing at the moment is constantly upgrading these different archetypes with new units and novaflares that are able to meaningfully buff older characters. This MEANINGFULLY was first seen with Constance, and now MBlade. Cipher, as much as I like her, just is not at the same calibre as these units frankly in how much they’re able to push up older units. Like come on the evolution of the ff team has finally kicked, THE supposed break support, Ruan Mei, out of her premium team. Same with Acheron, her premium support in JQ was completely massacred by e0s0 MBlade which has in turn affected the rest of her team and turned what was initially a cool requirement for her in her nihility requirements into something that actively hinders her because MBlade has anti synergy with other nihility units just because of the sheer amount of stacks he generates for Acheron. I can’t talk about Fei because I don’t play her team has completely changed as well with MBlade and Ashveil.

I think hoyo saw how horrendous the ecosystem of the game was during version 3 with the shilling for rem, and let’s not kid ourselves, specifically hyacine and her light cone, and decided to combat that by allowing for multiple team archetypes to actively still be able to clear, but version by version raise the cost required to clear by pushing certain characters out for the new shiniest unit. And these units are usually supports. I honestly don’t know how to feel about this because yeah sure they’re releasing more and more powerful DPS’s as well but they’re also power creeping supports in turn allowing for older DPS’s to be played except in this weird ship of Theseus situation where their teams are completely bastardised from what was initially supposed to be their best in slot team. Part of me is glad that we get to play our favourite DPS’s but then there are these hyper specific supports that have been sidelined completely because the game has moved on and they’ve now been replaced by ‘universal’ supports.

And God I haven’t even spoken about DOT and how unstable that team archetype is for now.
