His expression changed to one of worry, his fingers absent mindedly playing with the fur lining on his jacket. He thought she might say something like that - but at least she hadn’t taken offence.

Then don’t ask. Let me offer. I don’t want to see you get into any kind of trouble, more so than you’re already in. I know you’re a strong woman, Angel, but everybody needs somebody to lean on sometime. Don’t be ashamed of getting some help.

-Angel gave a confused huff. She wasn't really sure why he was offering to help pay her medical bills--not that she was offended or upset about it. It just seemed off of others to attempt to help her. Still, she was decidingly stubborn. She ran her fingers lightly through her messed hair as she spoke.- I just don't want you to feel obligated is all. It's very sweet of you to offer, and I'm very appreciative. I just feel a little childish about someone paying off my debts for me. -She gave a small laugh to show she didn't mean anything harsh by her words. She didn't want to offend him. Her tone gave a small worried hint to it. She was rather concerned about the money and the bills but more importantly, if Lang paid her bills for her...- Besides, I don't think I could pay you back if you paid for my medical bills and that's no necessarily very lady like.

Trust me, I don't feel at all obligated.

He smileed a little when she laughed - he was pleased she was starting to come around to the idea. He brought his foot up to rest it on his knee casually, and switched the phone to his other hand.

He was glad to hear some happiness in her voice. Whether it was because he’d caused it, or simply that she was no longer sad, he wasn’t sure, but he was glad all the same.

That sounds great. You know how partial I am to your cooking, Angel. Though I don’t suppose you’ve been doing a lot of it recently.

He leans back and frowns, a thought occurring to him. Being in hospital, she won’t have been able to sell any lunches. Was she holding up alright in terms of money? He didn’t want to straight up ask - that would be rude - but he didn’t want to leave her in the lurch if there was a chance he could help her.

Is that…a problem? Because if so, then…I suppose, if you needed any help…with…it…

Suddenly he’s not quite sure how to properly form sentences. He knows Angel is a strong, independent woman, and he hopes he hasn’t insulted her by offering a hand in this situation.

Is that so? Haha~ I'll be sure to cook you a wonderful dinner then, rather than a lunch. -She sighs lightly, thinking a bit about the whole situation. She had been in the hospital for about two days now. And she would stay until she could walk back home or find a ride to take her there. The bill would undoubtedly be rather large if she didn't go home soon. The thought of spending a lot of money that she didn't really have seemed to make her sigh again. She realized she had been thinking a tad too long, however, so she spoke up after a little embarrassed stuttering.- A-ah! Money has been a bit tight lately. B-But! Don't worry about me. I'll get by. Besides-- I don't know if my pride would allow me ask for your help, Dear. -She chuckled softly, almost sadly. That was a stupid reason. Why couldn't she just ask for help when she needed it? Stubborn woman...-

He wants to inquire further - there was clearly more to how she felt than what she’d just admitted - but Lang wasn’t about to make her poor her heart and soul out over the phone, especially over such a delicate topic. Perhaps upon his return to America, he would ask her further…but for now, a nice conversation to take her mind off of things and give her something else to think about would do the trick.

I’ve been well. We’ve not got far to go now until the last operation is taking place, and we should have our perp by the end of the month. It’s great to finally catch the guy behind everything, you know? This has been a long time coming. But I won’t bore you with specifics.

He chuckles.

Besides - if I told you, I’d have to kill you.

-Angel hadn't really wanted to discuss the whole emotional ordeal any further, so she was relieved when he didn't press her. She supposed he was a natural at reading the mood--which worked in these sorts of circumstances. Angel chuckled lightly at his small pun, adding a small--non offensive--"Nice~" to the end. She was tempted to ask about his particular job in Zheng Fa but she figured it'd be best not to pry. Besides--it particularly wasn't her business to begin with. She knew that. Sitting up on the bed, she brushed hair over her shoulder before speaking.- Well I'm happy to hear you're well. You should be sure to take care of yourself over there. When you come back I'll make you a steak lunch for taking your break to talk with me, okay? -Her tone suggested she was smiling, as she was. It was easy to talk to Lang--he was just an easy going man. She supposed she liked that type.-

He’s stunned into silence when she mentions the hospital. He’s not quite sure what to say at first - should he ask how her health is? How she is emotionally, and mentally? About what happened to Lana? After a few moments, he realises he’s being weirdly quiet and picks something to say.

“…That’s quite the situation. Are you alright?”

He mentally curses himself for not coming up with anything better, especially seeing as the poor woman was clearly not alright. At least he was expressing worry for her well-being.

-Angel smiled lightly on the other side of the phone. It felt nice to feel that someone wanted to know if she was okay. She supposed that was a little selfish of her though, but she particularly didn't mind. She chuckled lightly as she laid out on her hospital bed--hair messily sprawled out beneath her. She needed to relax.- Well, besides some burns and a bruise here and there--Yes, I'm fine. -Her voice becomes soft and calm. Almost too calm for a person staying in a hospital room. Though--it's still a little shaky at this point. Perhaps it's the topic and she most certainly wouldn't like to do what she feels is coming on, especially on the phone with someone--particularly Agent Lang--, but she can't seem to hide it. She's still sad.- As for the Gumshoe thing, I suppose is can't be helped. I just want to have a drink, have a smoke and try to forget that happened for a while. -A sniffle, a small cough and a chuckle later--she seems to have recomposed herself.- Thank you, Lang. But-- -a small pause as she wipes her teared up eyes.- How have you been?

He smiled when she answered. Angel had one of those smooth voices one could always enjoy listening to. Having been in Zheng Fa on this case for a while now, he was welcoming this break with open arms. His men and he had been working almost non stop since he’d arrived, and it was pretty damn tiring. He was in the apartment that had been provided for him upon his arrival in the country, lounging on a comfortable sofa with a fluffy towel around his waist, after having a long, hot shower.

“Hello, beautiful. Man, is it nice to hear a familiar voice. Forgive me if I mess up my English at all, I’ve been speaking Chinese for four weeks.”

He chuckles and leans back in the chair, sighing lightly as he stretches.

“So how are you, gorgeous?”

-Angel listened to the man speak and chuckled lightly as he did at his remark on English.- "Oh, I'm sure I can manage~" -In a way, she hoped he couldn't tell she had been crying--not for any other reason than it was embarrassing. Somehow though, she had been calmed by his phone call. Her body was sore and bruised, but she managed to relax. He seemed rather exhausted himself--but he took the time to call her? How nice of him. Angel smiled lightly and sat up on the hospital bed.- "Well, I suppose I've been better, dear." -she chuckled- "For starters, I'm in a hospital right now. There was an incident with Lana Skye in a burning warehouse. I ended up leaving that with a good amount of bruises and burns." -Angel paused. She bit her lip a bit, then let out a small sigh.- "And secondly, Gumshoe broke up with me."
