Truthfully, it didn’t really matter what they were going to eat, it didn’t make much of a difference to him: as long at it was food and he was going to eat it in Dakota’s company, it was okay to him. Phil needed to grab a bite, after that intense day, his stomach was needy. “Okay, I’ll order something from the italian restaurant.” The Chicagoan said, as he grabbed his phone: it wasn’t the first time they ordered some food from there so he knew exactly what she liked from the place. Once he was done, he placed the phone on the nightstand and laid down right next to the Tag Team Champion, staring at the ceiling as well. The Chicago native wrapped an arm around the woman’s neck gently. “Come here...” He said, as he delicately pulled her closer to him. 

At her words, the Chicagoan pretended to think about it for a few second, then he shrugged. “Too bad. I already told you: you’re stuck with me.” The man said with a grin: the fact that she was saying those words meant a lot to him, having to ‘deal’ with her was undoubtedly the best thing he could hope for. As moments went on, he could feel himself getting more and more relaxed. “You don’t need to thank me baby.” He whispered in a reassuring voice, pressing a kiss against the pink haired girl’s forehead. Phil nodded at her proposal. “Yeah, let us poor brains take a break for tonight.” He giggled softly, taking his phone in hand. ”What are you in the mood for?”

Dakota's smile was Phil's favorite thing in the entire world, and that wasn't a secret. That's why, when he was it, he started to relax a little; he was happy that what just happened didn't affect their relationship like it happened in many other couples. He approached her ear with his mouth. "I'd rather die than leave you." The former AEW World Champion said confidently, meaning every single word he just said. "Sorry, you won't get rid of me that easily, Ms. Kai." This time, it was his turn to smile a little, as he kept caressing her hair. "Feel better?"

“Mad? No... why would I even...“ The Chicagoan shook his head with nothing but certainty. He could never be mad at her, if anything, she had all the right to be mad at him for what happened. Phil wasn’t thinking about his career: ironically, in that moment, it meant absolutely nothing to him. The former AEW World Champion was trying to appear as calm as possible, he needed to do that because he didn’t want the woman he loved to panic even more. “I want you to know that I love you, and that I would never, ever walk away from you. “

“You... you are living the best moment of your career...” And the Chicagoan couldn’t help but feel that he took it away from her though he didn’t say it loud, that’s why he felt extremely guilty for that. If Phil had to rank the things he hated with all his heart, seeing Dakota cry would definitely appear at the top of the list; it was true that he didn’t know how to fix this, and in that moment he couldn’t possibly find a solution since they both couldn’t think clearly, but the least he could do in that moment was calm her down, or at least try. Easier said than done. “Take a deep breath baby.” He whispered. “Let’s try to calm down... and decide what to do next.” 

Phil held her tight as he let Dakota cry on his shirt; he was still in shock, but he needed to be strong because he didn’t want her to go in panic even more. Besides, he hated to see her cry more than he could describe with words. “I... I don’t know. But I promise you, it’ll be alright!” He repeated even though he had no idea how to make things right, he wasn’t even sure if it was possible. It’s not that he could snap his fingers and fix everything, but he surely was going to do his best. “I’m the one who’s sorry, babe...” He whispered, resting his chin on the pink haired woman’s head. “But... I will fix this.” The man repeated, caressing her hair softly.

Saying that he had no idea would be reductive. The moment he saw that pregnancy test, the Chicagoan’s mind immediately realized what was going on and he was flabbergasted, to say the least. It never happened to him before; in his previous relationships, pregancy tests never met the Chicagoan’s eyes. Of course, Phil couldn’t hide his surprise, even if tried he would have failed miserably. “Oh my god...” He whispered, his eyes were wide open and his body was frozen. He didn’t even know how to react at first: how the hell did that happen? Of course he knew how, but... how? And most importantly: did Dakota hate him for getting her pregnant? In that moment, that was Phil’s main concern. “Hey, hey, Cheree...” Phil wrapped his arms around her body: the fact that he called her by her real name meant that things were serious. “It’ll be alright...” He whispered, but deep down he knew that those words meant nothing since she was the one with the baby in her body. But he wanted to reassure her, even with stupid attempts like that one.

Phil had literally no idea what she was going through in that moment, but it must’ve been something serious since Dakota didn’t seem like her usual self. “No problem...” He initally said, even though it sounded more like a whisper. The fact that she wasn’t even looking him in the eyes worried him even more: did he do something wrong? Did she just receive a very, very bad news? The Chicagoan’s mind began to travel a lot, as usual, but  he couldn’t find an answer. “Hey, what’s going on?” The only way he could find out was of course to ask her. The former AEW World Champion searched for a physical contact with his woman, as he delicately brought a hand to her hip.

It didn’t take a genius to understand that something was wrong with Dakota: she had been acting weird all day long. At first, the Chicagoan naively thought that she was tired because of the travel, so he didn’t say anything, even out of respect for her. But the more time passed, the more he believed that the reason wasn’t that simple. The former AEW World Champion was sitting on the bed, waiting for his woman to join him. What was taking her so long? Hopefully, nothing too serious but Phil was seriously starting to worry at some point. And the fact that her ‘oh no’ was so resounding didn’t help a lot. The man got up from the bed and approached the door, knocking on it and coming up with the dumbest question in the world. “Babe, is everything alright?”

Your presence alone is enough to make me smile, and of course, I want to make you happy too. I’m not one to skip steps and stuff like that, I don’t know if it’s too soon for the big L word, but... it’s how I feel.
