“I thought you were going to tell me you were a vampire or something of the like. The possibility isn’t ruled out since I’ve come across all manner of people here.” He said to her. “Not really. I mean I do get up early but it’s what I’m used to.”

Chevalier smiled softly at that. Philippe had that effect on him. Always making him smile. “Well, that is kind of you to say.” He added, bundling up in a duvet with him. “There will never be another like you.” He said, kissing down the skin of his shoulder and to his arm.

“Well, don’t they sound... Enticing.” Chevalier mused, swirling the wine around in the glass he had in hand. “Lovers bounded in death, eh? Isn’t that sweet.” He added. Maybe he and Philippe would be like that, unless Philippe wanted to kill Chevy first for his overdramatic ways. He chuckled softly at that thought. “And the story goes...?”

“I don’t know why I suggested online, it’s a main reason why retailers are closing their doors permanently on the high streets. Such a shame.” He mused, a finger tip swirling around the lid of his water bottle. “Trust me, in my time it was drink whatever you could.” Chevalier said. In response to his question, he extended his arms outwards. “This? This time, isn’t my time. I was born in 1643 in France.”

Tips of his fingers danced against the tops of the bottles, humming in thought. “Villains, hm?” He asked. “I am handy with a gun, if I can toot my own horn.” He said. The thought brought him back to when Philippe said that he was bluffing and he couldn’t fire a gun, then Chevalier was the one who saved his life by using a gun. “You’re tempting me with this talk, you know.” The Frenchman said, hazel hues shifting from the bottles to the blonde for just a few moments, then his gaze shifted back to the bottles. “Oh, I was very good at having narcotics smuggled into the palace. The King had no idea.” He laughed, selecting a few bottles: Vodka, rum, gin, tequila... “Oh, this... This’ll be strong. I’ve seen it before in some recipe, but I don’t know what. All I know is that I could knock these back like water.”

“You can.” He said. “I don’t know about smells but I’m sure if you know what you like, you’ll find it there. The Internet is a powerful tool, I wish it existed back in my time. It would have been plenty useful.”

A soft smile found its way onto the Frenchman’s face. “Exactly that.”

“I believe...” Chevy said, pulling a blanket over them and placing a kiss against his head. “That you and I, no matter what life... Will find each other and be together.”

“Reminds me of when my favourite fabric stall went bust.” Chevalier sighed. “I wasn’t the happiest of men at that.” The blond male added, understanding the other’s upset. “Are there any other places like this around, or maybe online?”

“Some kids can be quite violent, I swear. I keep seeing things in the news of kids being... Well, violent. It’s sort of shocking, but I’m not surprised. You have to feel bad for them, since they do learn that behaviour from somewhere. Friends, parents, their neighbourhood.” Chevalier mused, eyeing the other for a few moments. “But for now, we both seem safe from harm. Well, I hope that we are.” The Frenchman said, glass in hand. “It was interesting if you weren’t targeted for murder.”

“You could see ghosts?” Chevalier asked, clearly looking shocked. “That… Sounds slightly terrifying.”

“Creature of the night?” Chevalier asked, brow raised in thought. He picked up his glass of whiskey and then downed it. “How so?”

“I don’t know.” Chevy said. “Just random thoughts come into my mind sometimes.”

“I’m hoping the bath makes you feel better.” He said, looking to him every so often. “You do seem a bit pale. More so than usual, if I can comment.”
