JEM + LAVINIA: SPACE RANGERS

Whirrrrr went the seal and click, click, click went the ticker and with a hissing gush of air, Lavinia's armoured hands pulled the helmet from her suit. 

The ragged leg casing fell away to clang to the tiles, and the earthling's blood was the colour of the cross on Jem's uniform. Alas, the bio-foam -- which made eir job far too easy -- quickly finished up the wound (it would've been way more interesting to amputate instead).

DORIAN + MAEVE: MODERN 

"It's fine," I solemnly assure her, "we did this in physics class, it's completely safe." 

I don't even take physics class; I am too young. 

Maeve, however, need not be made aware of such things, and though she flinches terribly at the noise, there's a certain wonder in her eyes as the little paper rocket spears -- at an estimated 103mph, according to the other three trial launches -- into the sky.

Lavinia's frowns were what Jem lived for. Well -- no, not really, because Jem had died seven years ago but the thought at least still remained.
