its the fact that i see plenty of women regain their hope in finding romantic love. society overly romanticises finding love young, and makes women especially feel like a lost cause if they haven't settled down in their 20s. i know i've personally never believed that to be true, but i know so many women who have. forcing women to believe that they are passed some arbitrary sell-by date when it comes to finding something real.

like, i was there in 2012 during the "slavic doll" era that everyone now loves her for, and she was not considered cool - not to like, not to listen to, not style wise, not ever. that was on top of the hate she got for being with harry.

same with any older era of hers, even though i'm not sure i can speak because i wasn't there pre-2012. i see so many younger ones saying online how "she used to be so cool" as if they probably wouldn't have also been the same people to ridicule her back then and call her lame. heck, she even says in old video diaries how she was never popular or cool growing up - and theres enough people who went to school with her that also say that. but now, the older versions of her are considered "cool" whereas the current version of her isn't.

truth is though, in her 20 year career, i can name about 3-4 of those years she was cool to like (2020 thanks to folkmore, 2023 because of the eras tour and maybe 2014-15 due to 1989). even then, people only jumped on the bandwagon because it boosted their social pedigree to do so, it was never a genuine interest in her or her music.

this is why the internet meltdowns surrounding ttpd and tloasg was unsurprising to me. it was less to do with either album being bad (which is subjective), but more because they felt personally embarassed by her. like folkmore made them look so smart and clever, how dare she write something that doesn't make them look so? it doesn't matter that it was reflective of her state of life at that point and it was true to her in that moment - it didn't make them look good, and therefore its bad!
