yo, I hate people who are like "Ryo is so dramatic for turning all emo for losing 2 duels." IT WAS 10 FIRST OF ALL AND I NEED PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND, THIS WAS HIS CAREER, HE'S !FAILING! HIS CAREER. THAT EVERYONE THOUGHT HE'LL THRIVE IN. Of course he's gonna turn into an edgy bastard, everyone told him he's the best and he was the best at duel academy, I don't think Samejima ever taught him how to handle true failure (Camula doesn't count since that was a sacrifice and also I got a lot of things to say about Samejima I DON'T LIKE HIM) And not just that, there's fucking articles about his failures and the year is like 2004-2005, DO YOU KNOW HOW BAD AND CRUEL THESE TABLOIDS USED TO BE IN THE 2000S?! MFS PROBABLY WROTE SHIT AND MADE UP AWFUL RUMOURS. He's at this lowest, he's gonna try to put himself back up and he did. Because in order to succeed in his career, it's all about winning, respecting isn't as important. And yeah he weirdly likes to be shocked but it's hot it's okay. I'm convinced people who don't like this whole development are people who haven't been put expectations on by everyone around them and then failing said expectations

Ryo has a bunch of cool fun duos in the show, Fubuki, Judai, Edo, etc u know But my favourite one was with Asuka and I'm so pissed off they never spoke to each other after season 1, I needed them to talk again, we didn't even get Asuka's opinion on Hell Kaiser, like she said she sees him as an older brother, and they were close in season 1, I JUST WANTED THEM TO HANG OUT AGAIN RAHHHHH.

they were so cool together. lowkey headcanon them as aroace, my favourite moments of them is when they are dueling someone who likes them (romantically) and they both say they're in love with dueling 🙏 I was rewatching episode 47 cuz thats one of my favourite episodes and look how happy Ryo is when Asuka says she’s only in love with dueling ahhhhh
