Our nation is living through crucial times, threatened as never before by imperialism, which once again believes it can subdue us and destroy the Revolution. To this end, and before the eyes of the world, violating all norms of International Law, the United States government is committing an act of genocide that imposes terrible limitations on the daily lives of our people.

The perverse way in which the United States is carrying out a plan against Cuba aimed at provoking a humanitarian crisis throughout the nation, with the grave effects already being felt by children, the elderly, pregnant women, the disabled, and, in general, all our people without exception, can only be described as a crime against humanity.

My firstborn came out after a textbook delivery and right as we were basking in those first few minutes of meeting, I started to feel Bad and Weird out of nowhere. The medical team jumped into action so quickly that I had no idea what was happening until it was over. They never specified the amount of blood that I lost, but I the look on my husband's face told me it was a lot.

If I hadn't given birth in a hospital, I would have hemorrhaged to death before even getting to give my child a name. If my secondborn had not been a c-section, my OB/GYN did not mince words when she said there was a real possibility of one or both of us having major complications or dying. I survived giving birth twice. My babies are now big, healthy kids. I don't take that for granted.

The doctor said she needs a course of treatment costing 850 € to improve her health and restore her consciousness.

Please help me, don't leave me alone.😭

I don't want to lose my wife; I've already lost my mother and older brother, and I can't bear to lose anyone else in my family. I feel like I'm living in a terrible nightmare. Please help me.

My eyes won't stop crying. My little baby needs his mother's embrace. Please stand with me to raise the money to buy her a course of treatment.

Pick your lane: rapid response or mutual aid-- you can't do both, because rapid response often puts you in direct contact with ICE. They've been taking down plate numbers and leading responders back to their own homes here in the Twin Cities.

Remember that being under siege is a marathon, not a race. Try to remember that while your neighbors are being kidnapped in their underwear, from their own homes.

Meet your neighbors. Attend your city council meetings and demand separation ordinances NOW. Tell your congress people and representatives not to give ICE more money.

Prepare yourself to see high school children being stopped and harassed. 5 year olds being used as bait for their mothers. Old men being dragged out of their houses in underwear and Crocs simply because all of them are not white.

Be flexible, be ready to pivot on a dime as situations change. Be ready to be paranoid. Be ready to be distrusting of every Texas, New York, California, or Illinois license plate. Be ready to be suspicious of EVERY out of state license plate. Dark sedans and SUVs with extremely illegally tinted windows. Unreadable or missing plates.

Make sure your business has an area explicitly for employees only. What we’ve seen in the last week makes all this seem like sticking a post-it on a viper and none of us know where we’re headed now, but it’s easy to do and could make a difference. one of my best friends was just arrested on federal charges for pro-palestine activism at university of michigan. i am texting her boyfriend for updates, and she is safe right now but she is being held in jail until at least friday, when their intial hearing is, and was separated from the other people she was arrested with.

the average bigot absolutely does possess empathy, they just don't consider oppressed people worthy of it.

not only that, but a lack of parochial empathy doesn't inherently result in fair treatment, as many people instead view oppressors and the oppressed as equally worthy of care (thus see anti-oppression activism as hateful or overly divisive) or simply avoid thinking about oppression altogether as to not feel bad about it.

this is especially a contrast I notice as a sociopathic narcissist (using both in the clinical sense), literally part of the two groups used the most by the "empathy = good" types to symbolize ring-wing violence.

I'm almost always the "naïve bleeding-heart lefty" in an interaction, regardless of if I'm interacting with conservatives or other progressives. people who shed literal tears over others' plights have become aggressive with Me over suggesting they should care about the "wrong" people or do something about it other than spiraling into self-pity.

I notice that the main difference between Me and these people politically isn't empathy, but how thoughtful our politics are.
