Suzanne didn’t look away from the road ahead of them, but she nodded her agreement.

Then she said, “Oh! I remembered his earbuds!”

Coach nodded, even though he was pretty sure Junior could replace those. If he hadn’t already.

“Do you suppose he’ll have that Jack with him?” Suzanne asked.

Coach had thought about that once Suzanne relayed news of the meeting.

“I expect so,” he said. “Junior doesn’t have a car there, and he’s too young to drive someone else’s rental.”

What she means: I cannot believe how poorly the Flyers are doing this season. While they still lack consistent goaltending, we have some of the most talented players in the league and they are constantly turning over the puck and cannot produce goals as a whole. We just fired our coach and our general manager, so these players should be playing with some urgency. I know they are better than this and I’m just sad. I honestly dread game days, but I still want to support them so I watch anyway and then get upset all over again.
