Circle guard x reader pt 2
Fluff and slight angst! gn reader and I'll be using they/them pronouns for the guard
warnings: mention of violence but not descriptive and spoilers
the second game was announced and you were brought to a room that looked like a playground but indoors
They saw you go to the umbrella shape because you thought it was pretty
sirens immediately went off in their head
you were going to your death
grabbing your arm they roughly shoved you to the triangle line
"There are too many people there, you're being an inconvenience to the other players." they told you
you were shocked since this was the first time you've seen any guard come into contact with a player
you were also scared thinking they might harm you since you might've done something wrong
Resuming their post they watch you get a small tin and needle with the triangle shape in it
And to their relief, you completed it without any hassle
Though they saw you weren't as happy as them when you showed them you were done
Moving to watch from the sides you closed your eyes to block the gory sight in front of you
people were getting shot left and right and it seemed like there was no end to the screams
you felt bad seeing all the other people die while you get to live but you had to for the money and for a better life
but you wondered what the point of it was if you got it in exchange for the life of others and to experience being in the midst of all this bloodshed
when the shots and screaming stopped you still had your eyes closed not wanting to see if there was going to be any more of it
You felt someone nudge you and you opened them to see who it was and it was a guard with a circle mask
Your blood went cold thinking you did something wrong but they just said "Look," and pointed to the players
There weren't any people dying anymore, everyone was focused on licking the backside of the candies to safely remove the shapes
It made you smile, even though you knew how terrifying the situation was seeing these people strive to live and have hope that they can made your heart feel at ease
and they did they managed to safely remove the shapes one by one
the old man and 456 who had the umbrella, the hardest shape, both made it out safely
There was tension brewing with one player when the game ended though, Circle guard sensed it and ushered you outside to go back to the sleeping quarters
That night only one drink and an egg was given to you, you felt discouraged that after all that hard work only that was given to nourish you
Sighing you accepted it and went back to your bed to eat after eating you decided to go and relieve yourself in the bathroom on the way there you felt someone watching and following you
You were right it was Circle guard
they knew about the order of giving only small amounts of food to cause a fight to break out and they were so worried and didn't want you to be a casualty of that
when they found you, they grabbed your shoulder to turn you around, you did so without hesitation fearing struggling might make them angry
What you didn't expect was to be given a metal tin box meal, they unzipped your jacket causing you to be shocked and flustered but it was just so that you can hide the box
"Later this night," they spoke "find a small corner to hide in, when the fight breaks out make sure to run away and make sure you're not seen."
That was all they said before going away
you breathed a sigh of relief as your heart hammered in your chest
you also felt something flutter in your chest at the kindness you didn't expect to find here
