synopsis: they're just trying to chat others up casually while you're by his side, but how does he feel when the word husband leaves your lips while talking about him?
isagi yoichi — is appalled positively.
the funny thing is, isagi doesn't know how he got an angel like you to go out with him. he fully believes you deserve so much better,
and maybe that's what got you so interested in him too.
the charm he had looming over you was honestly irresistable, you liked a guy that didn't feel like everything he did was orchestrated, or practiced,
for once the man asking you out felt so real.
so whenever you clung to his arm, or praised him for his plays in soccer, the chances he got to lean on your head and be able to be the one to hold you in his arms at night—
and when your boyfriend first brings up introducing you to his friends, he asks if you're okay with... question about the two of you. he knows it might be a little weird just meeting his friends for the first time; and he should know very well how freakish they get meeting new people.
arriving at the cafe felt natural though, when he held your hand, when he reassures you that they'd like you no matter what.
isagi has his arm around you when he rubs circles into your shoulder, silently pulling you even closer than usual. both of you sat at the other end of the booth when isagi is going on a long tangent about the most recent pottery class you took with him...
"and you know, i feel like meeting them had completely changed my life." wrapping your arm around his, holding his hand securely. "seriously, i'd never imagine isagi would be the first to settle down!"
his friend, bachira, who he's mentioned maybe around a hundred times whenever you'd bring up the question 'how's work?'.
you just let out a laugh, a palm over your mouth when you do, "yeah, yeah, real question is... how come isagi? what made you choose him?" chigiri leans onto the fist as he analyses the both of you.
before answering, you just move your gaze to look at your boyfriend for a moment when finally answering; "well, when he made me lose my breath from just a corny dad joke, i think that's when i was like... 'this is my husband'."
isagi's eyes widen immediately when he hears it—
"ohh! i get it! he makes you laugh!" bachira lets out another roar of laughter trying to stabilize himself on their side of the booth. "aw, adorable. so the royalty likes to be entertained by their jester?"
isagi couldn't even process any jokes anybody made, his eyes were still wide even when your stare was on him—moving back over to the duo on the other end.
he only snaps out of his trance when you squeeze his hand, whispering a small 'are you okay' and leaning your head on his bicep again. making him suddenly jolt, his arm tensing under the hoodie he wore today;
"huh? oh! i... uh... yeah, i... i really like my spouse's laugh." isagi moves his arm to pull you closer, leaving you with nothing to grasp again.
but the more you conversed with the other two, it's clear that isagi could no longer keep his eyes off you after that moment at all.
so when coming home, the question is inevitable. "baby... did... did you mean to call me— call me... husband?"
and he finds your immediate nod unacceptable.
"god. i'm really gonna marry you one day."
bachira meguru — is giddy, would bounce off the walls if possible.
when your meguru finally picked up the courage to ask you out on your anniversary, he had eagerly already reserved months before at the restaurant you guys first met at. bachira always feels like his eyes widen whenever he sees you,
so rightfully so—he finds the will to take you out and show you off to everyone. you two first met, it felt like a dream come true, for once someone laughed with him, not at him.
he felt heard, and seen by you, his jokes would always end up hitting, and he could hear that gorgeous huff of laughter again;
not to mention that smile?
and the way your eyes tear up from chuckling so hard? and you're telling him he gets to be with you for more than just one day?
it's like being able to repeat the dream that had you seething at the teeth for more. bachira can't help but keep, and keep, and keep wanting you.
so hopefully this anniversary would prove to you that he could man up, and be your man.
bachira holding your hand as you entered through those doors, sliding your chair out for you, and the pot at your designated table? surprise! your favorite flowers are there, idle and waiting for you. the candlelight lights up the restaurant beautifully,
you could feel yourself gasp when the lights around you two dim, looking around the both of you, your bright smile shows up again, infectiously affecting your boyfriend. "oh my go... megs—you shouldn't have..."
running your fingers over the fabrics of the tablecloth before actually taking your seat, you finally connect your gaze to his.
"was hoping you'd like it."
his words laced with a sweet scent you'd probably never forget, "it's amazing, i... i can't even find the words to- to thank you."
it was almost immediate when you placed your hand over his, squeezing it with a smile. a waiter finally comes over to take your order, pulling out a notepad with a pen.
"hello! what can i get started for you guys—oooh, this must be a special night!" letting out a chuckle, the lady slides over menus for you both. clicking her pen,
"just choose for me, my love, it's our night anyway." bachira leans on his palm, starstruck with hearts for pupils instead.
you simply nod as you turn to the waiter, pointing towards a few of the items, "i'll just have alfredo, and the chicken. then... my husband will have—"
that's what gets his irises to basically gape at you. what- what.. what did you just say?
"you're fine with beef bourguignon right? i know you mentioned wanting meat earlier." "uh... uhuh, yeah, that's fine with me the partner i'm married to, yeah."
you raise an eyebrow, a huff of air that almost seems like laughter leaves you before turning back to the waitress, "sorry, i don't know why my husband's acting weird, so just the tater tots, alfredo, chicken, and the beef."
"how about drinks?" "water is just fine."
when she finally leaves, you turn back to bachira only to see him almost eager to talk- too excited, too smiley.
"m'your husband...." giggling after getting to fully say it,
letting out another chuckle, you nod again, "of course i mean it."
chigiri hyoma — wouldn't want others to see it, but is more than content with the term.
chigiri holds you very close to his heart, that's why your initials are in the locket around his neck when he plays games,
staying intense and vicious, the lazy little morning he met you on was the day he found out he wasn't going to just be about soccer his whole life.
had the chain and the pendant done probably the month you got together, can you believe it's been two years since then? he can't either. taking careful steps toward the cafe you both planned on heading to since last night.
letting out a yawn, your boyfriend wraps an arm around your waist to pull you close.
it was around seven thirty in the morning, the one lazy day you could finally spend with chigiri on a sunday morning. you lean against him, your chest heaving slowly as you trusted him,
closing your eyes as he led the way.
sitting you down at your favorite booth by the window, you backed up against the soft plush of the chair. letting out a sigh of relief and nodding when chigiri says something along the lines of 'let me order for you, okay?'.
but when he realizes there's no one at the counter yet, he decides to retreat to your table instead. a waiter will come by eventually. taking a seat in front of you, his eyes watching the way you melted into the chair.
swinging your feet slightly, you only snap back into reality when the waiter speaks, "alright, what can i get for the two of you?" you tipped your head, chigiri had left for the bathroom not too long ago.
"i'll just have a vanilla espresso, my husband will get the um... chocolate version instead."
you hadn't noticed the shadow that covered the employee until you looked back up from the menu, chigiri had fully stopped in his tracks, his eyes a little wider than supposed to be—well supposed because you two basically just got up.
"oh... here he is right now." you give a weak wave as the waiter makes way for him to take his seat once more. relaxing back into the chair, the employee takes off again, saying he'll come back later with your order.
"just um... you know. the thing you... the thing you called me."
"huh? husband? but you will be right?"
"i-i guess so." "so i can call you husband."
rin itoshi — scoffs, totally not affected. right?
rin met you on a quiet night, a night he never expected to find himself getting anywhere. a night he felt as though everything in his life was falling apart, and the day after was the day he found out everything could get better within seconds.
well, first off, it was the bar. the bar you worked that you had started not too long ago, you had applied not really hoping for anything but a paycheck. and maybe a sprinkle of hope for your future.
you had just gotten out of college, you just needed something to take your mind off things, aka a job. and you weren't so bad at mixing drinks;
so what happened when rin finally went out for a drink?
soft snores coming from being the counter at the bar made him raise an eyebrow. he came in early here to greet the owner for another promotion, but who knew he'd find the love of his life sleeping quietly under the bar table...
hugging your drink mixers close to your chest, his face was the first thing you saw when you got up- well, when you carried you back over from the counter, letting you rest in the staff lounge instead.
yet ever since then, his life felt complete when he talked to you while waiting for your boss to come by.
so celebrating the hundredth location of the bar in tokyo is something you both wouldn't mind flying out to (rin paying for everything of course)!
by the time you both landed, your head felt like it was spinning once you two entered the bar, clinging onto his bicep like a cat to its owner, you let out a small yawn when he found you a seat.
later on, when he finds himself back beside you, you both being the only ones not drunk in a bar...
you leaned forward not too long ago, just dozing off quietly until you feel a nudge on your shoulder, begrudgingly you rotate to see who it was,
your eyes relaxing as soon as you realize it's just-
voice soft, closing your eyes again, you feel rin come a little closer, putting his head on your shoulder. "you tired?" letting out a small yawn,
he only replies with a small hum in his throat, pulling you closer while the bar remains loud with jazz music and a strong scent of alcohol in the air.
well- until the owner came by.
"hey! you two enjoying yourselves over here? need a drink or anything?"
before rin could reply for you, he feels you move a little, just enough for your words not to be muffled. "we're okay here, ma'am."
"mhm, me and my hubby are just tired from the trip over here."
you hadn't noticed, but rin's ears were as red as ever. even your boss had taken note before you did, only letting you two of the hook to be alone. maybe to address the elephant in the room, or something...
"what did y... what did you just call me?"
"nothing. nothing. a- ahem, do you really not want any drinks?"
"nope, just wanna hang here with hubby."
your boss swears steam was coming out his ears not too long ago! but you are sent a picture of the two of you sitting beside each other later on.
