A Run Down: 

Mairwen’s verses are all being tweaked to match each other more closely instead of having very different backstories, yet keep them removed enough from her canon that it doesn’t influence things. These verses are the most general and all interactions within them are being restarted. There aren’t as many of these within these verses, however.

Canon: It is currently mostly unused and is likely to remain that way in RP, partially due to wanting to keep RP experiences from influencing her story within the story, however indirect that influence might be.

Basics: 

Her appearance is going to be roughly the same in all verses: dark skin, long curly red hair, green eyes, curvy/plump frame, piercings, intensive scarring, and visible tattoos [including face and hands] and a Lichtenberg scar.  ------ > [Level of scarring and tattoos will vary depending on verse. General rule of thumb: the more dangerous or fantastical the verse, the more she has.]

Her family backstory is generally: Rich parents, child of an affair, ran away at 13 after killing someone, has had to fend for herself since.

She’s a chaotic neutral character with an off balance moral compass. She is a thief and a grifter. Often doing more should the need arise.

While she is dishonest and distrustful, she’s also friendly and flirtatious and outgoing.

Her shoes cost more than my rent, red soles displayed like a badge. Her short dress looked cheap, however, especially as shifted to show more of her dark thighs. She rapped her fingers across the metal table and aimed a smug smile over at us.

                                        No, not at us. At Hunter.

Despite the chair lined up askance, she tracked him through the mirrored glass from the corner of her eye, barely turning her head to face towards us. It was one of those moments that reminded me she wasn't entirely human. When I'd first met her, I'd known because of her too-large eyes, her tipped ears, and the chaotic, branching scars littering her body. She played into it with the intricate tattoos across her face and littered along her body,  and her hair was an unnatural shade of red.

                  But I got used to it, seeing her at Lorelei's place far too often.

That was until moments like this. Where her inherent magic shown through. The room was warded against human magic, so no one else would have been able to do that. I glanced over at Hunter, and he was staring at her, hard. He was hoping that she'd cave eventually if he let her sit in there. A tactic he and his mentor had tried many times before with her.

I rolled my eyes and moved past him, into the room. I didn't have time for this. ❞

You’ll note the name change once again, but I wanted to mark a difference from her RP incarnation and her inclusion in the novel I had begun writing. [A lot of characters being reused [rescued] RP/fandom muses.] In her novel [canon] verse, she was originally a tertiary character, being the girlfriend of the MC’s cousin. She’s now one of the four protagonists of the story, as it’s expanded since then. The novel is a modern fantasy world with specific magic rules and new magic ‘races’ and realms.

In her canon, she is a half-fae and a runaway. She’s had to make a living as a thief and a con artist. She was disowned by her family due to being the child of her mother’s affair and all records of her destroyed. [Which was only possible due to her [step] father being a politician. She has lived on and off the streets since she was 13 and has picked up a variety of skills.

She spends most of her time on the road, though her unofficial home is with her lover, Lorelei. As she got older, she became aware of two thing: That she was a not merely half-fae and part of a group that were considered more dangerous due to further mixed heritage. And that her [real] father was looking for her in order to control her and possibly use her in his personal conflict. 

I joined the roleplay community with this mage due to a group of friends I’d made outside of RP who were interested in Neverwinter Nights. [Notably @wolf-at-worlds-end ] I’d RPed before with a different character in the Supernatural fandom and yet another character in the MCU fandom, both groups had largely died out by then.

She started with two verses due to my fixation at the time on Dragon Age and Neverwinter Nights. Both were magic based, with me nixing the memory loss aspect and changing both verses since I wasn’t very interested in RPing ships or having anyone thing I was trying to do so.

Her current name came from three things: Branwen, her very first name, Marie, her Dragon Age name, and a little cheeky nod to the fact that she always travelled with her Mare. [Who was, at the time, just called ‘Mare’.

Mairwen’s next incarnation was as a Dragon Age Inquisition companion OC. She still did not have the name ‘Mairwen’, at the time having the name ‘Marie Pythia’. Her backstory is much the same as her Dragon Age verse originally is, except she had lost many of her memories. She had been in a circle tower and made tranquil before escaping with her friends from the tower who had known her before her change. 

At some point they were able to reverse her tranquility, but it made her forget her time before that. And since her friends were killed shortly after this, she was once again alone with only her horse. She joined the Inquisition as an herbalist, hiding her magic and acting as a rogue before she discovered her past. [Her companion quest.] I still have many of the drabbles and short fan fics from this verse where she romanced either Cullen, Josephine and/or Krem. 

In Mairwen’s very first incarnation, she was the protagonist for a fantasy novel set in my own original world. Her first name was actually Branwen and she looked very different, being completely albino. The plot for that novel was that she was an “Exiled”, part of a group of people who were very secretive, living in seclusion due to the nature of their magic. They were so secretive in fact, that leaving the community was all but forbidden and being exiled was reserved for the worst offenders. 

Being exiled in their community meant receiving a [magic] tattoo and having your memories erased before being pushed out into the outside world. Most people outside the community recognized the implications of the tattoo and were not friendly to those who were Exiled. 

Her very first story was about her trying to find somewhere to call home, arriving in a town known as “the city of outcasts” and discovering that the town wasn’t exactly as advertised and hid a dangerous secret. 

From there, her story continued so that she travelled with her horse as her only companion until someone from her community, also with the mark of someone exiled, came looking for her. He had his many of his memories, however, and knew her. The two set out to discover what led to their banishment and the hints of corruption underneath.
