What if like 

          When Whisper first boarded the ship leaving the city, she was silently heartbroken to see tears in everyone’s eyes, some who were simply scared beyond repair and others who were forlorn about the incoming future. Eggman really did it now, didn’t he? All these lives, ruined, because of that horrible virus.

          She spots Espio standing outside Amy’s office, waiting for something, but he looks so bothered and upset. He was one of the Chaotix, wasn’t he? Didn’t one of their teammates get turned? What happened to the other-

          Oh. Oh no.

          Whisper cautiously approaches him, speaking up only when she was close enough that her low tone of voice could be heard.

         ‘ I’m.. sorry for your loss. ‘

Espio jumped when she spoke, his head turning to glare at her, his brain registering what she was saying to him. He didn’t know whether to be angry, sad, or what. He just knew he would much rather not deal with the emotions that lead with the loss of his comrades. It wasn’t the time or the place for it. Turning his head away from her, he turned invisible, though he didn’t really move from where he was. He just, wanted to hide from this. 

“Amy!” He completely abandons his invisibility. Her mental state is much more important to him than that. He quickly slides to her aid, placing his hands on her shoulders. He... felt guilty. He should have talked to her sooner, he should have been there with her the whole time, they both saw what happened to vector... Espio couldn’t help but feel guilty for everything. Vector getting turned into a zombot, Amy having to put all of this burden on herself... He couldn’t stand it.
