Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Beaux Bruns 2001
As my first post I wanted to share a bottle that sums up why I love Burgundy wines. It is a beauty and I cannot divulge where this can be found as I need to get back to them pronto to secure the remaining dregs. If you find any, please let me know! My understanding is that Beaux Bruns is not the top grade of the 1er Crus for Barthod (she has no Grand Crus), and is quite an accessible wine. Apparently, other 1er crus (Fuees, Veroilles etc) need more time and can appear stern, but maybe this is just to divert your attention from these wines in the first place!
Stunning! Matched perfectly with Roasted Hake. Beautiful aromas of red fruits and flowers, with a hint of secondary development. Light bodied, elegant entry, wide mouth and great length. Pointless scoring this, its just a skillled winemaker making wine to drink and not shout about.
