35 years ago today a 17 year old boy from Salteaux First Nation was found dead in a field outside Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
His name was Neil Stonechild.
Neil played hockey, and he loved wrestling. He once won a bantamweight provincial title in Saskatchewan. His brother Chris described him as fun loving and caring. His mother Stella's nickname for him was baby boy.
Neil went out with his friend Jason on November 24th, 1990. It was -28° C outside. Later that night he was picked up by Saskatoon Police Service officers Brad Senger and Larry Hartwig. Neil was not charged with any crime and the officers did not keep any record of taking Neil.
The last words his friend heard him say were "Jay, help me. They're going to kill me."
Neil was found dead on November 29th, injured and with one shoe missing. He was wearing his favourite letterman jacket, which his brother Chris had given him. There were bruises on his face and cuts around his wrists. He had frozen to death.
Neil was murdered in what canadian Natives call a Starlight Tour, in which Indigenous people are picked up by police and left outside the city. Some are told to walk home. Not all of them make it.
There are reports of Starlight Tours as far back as 1976 and as recent as 2018.
The Saskatoon Police Service investigated themselves and found they did nothing wrong.
The RCMP investigated and told the Department of Justice that they would not be recommending any charges in relation to Neil's death.
Canada's police services were created to confine and oppress Indigenous people. They are brutal and racist. 9 Indigenous people were killed in interactions with police between August 29th and October 4th, 2024. That is 36 days. 9 people in 36 days.
Indigenous people make up 5% of the population of Canada, but make up 16% of police related deaths. 31% of people in Canadian prisons are Indigenous.
Land Back means justice for all the victims of colonial police brutality.

Hi world ,i am called Nina a transgender living in south sudan refugee camp called gorom, I live together with lgbtiq members in the community and we face alot of challenges ,such as discrimination as we live with refugees who aren't lgbtiq ,we face attacks from the community people ,south sudan is a country that experiences war we live here while we are worried though the refugee camp is some how safer from war zones
Starvation is another challenge we face ,there is shortage of food in the refugee camp as we can't work in the refugee camp because of discrimination and fear to be attacked on our way
Another challenge is shortage of medical care ,most of the time transgenders we are discriminated in UNHCR hospitals by the doctors and other refugees ,so we find it difficult to go there for treatment, it will be better when one gets support and go to private hospitals where they will give treatment for money which is safer
Another issue is shelters ,we have few shelters with us ,when it comes to night ,some of us sleep outside ,we live the rooms for the lesbians to sleep inside and the little children ,if support is got ,we can add more shelters and also get a fence built with iron sheets for our safety

One function of terms like "health," "nutrition," and "hygiene" becoming dogwhistles for white supremacy and eugenics is that it neatly obscures any actual discussion of survival.
While those in power construct health, nutrition, and hygiene as ideologically representing "morality" and "purity," the material project they undertake is to ensure these things are only accessible to those in power.
The prizing of health, hygiene, and nutrition as a fascist ideal necessarily comes hand in hand with the deliberate targeting and systematic destruction of all sources of survival.
Nowhere is this more clear than in Israel's genocidal occupation of Gaza.
Health. The US-backed Israeli military relentlessly targets hospitals, health care infrastructure, doctors and healthcare workers. My friend Fadel still has not been able to get shrapnel surgically removed from his body after surviving the bombing of his home, because there are no supplies. Every month he struggles to afford his medication for his disability.
Nutrition. The famine in Gaza is recognized globally as a deliberately constructed starvation of Palestinians. Israel has blocked aid, used their own aid sites as death traps to lure starving people, and tortured people trying to bring aid. They use malnutrition as a tool of genocide. Fadel's family has been on the brink of starvation for months, and their access to food is held at the whims of blockades and the flow of donations.
Hygiene. The overwhelming majority Gaza’s water and sewage facilities have been destroyed by Israel’s bombs. In August Israel bombed a sewage line near Fadel's family in Gaza, and ever since they have struggled to get clean water. They are all getting sick drinking dirty water. Forcing people into overcrowded displacement camps and toxic fumes and residues from weaponry also contribute to the spread of illness. Now there is an unprecedented outbreak of Guillain-Barré syndrome in Gaza due to these conditions.

Do you see how this works? The ideological construction of health, nutrition, and hygiene as denoting the "morally pure and deserving" emerges from a literal, on-the-ground campaign of targeting and destroying all access to healthcare, nutrition, and sanitation.
It is an ableist, eugenicist project to make populations disabled and then allow them to die.
Health cannot be individual. Health is collective or it is genocidal. We must support colonized, disabled people to survive.
