thinking about this and how i've always thought it strange to so openly imply cesare doesn't love himself when the vibe i got from him was that he loved himself too much (even in s1 and 2) and thought himself deserving of a "better" role (gonfaloniere), and wondering why neil ultimately chose to keep the part about learning to love himself instead of the part where she says he's grown dark, which i highkey think would've fit the character more?

more thoughts: i understand the choice to rewrite it and make it less over the top with romantic and sexual tension while still alluding to the emotional incest, but i will never be over the fact that this was written and not filmed and put on my screen. like, imagine this and then later in the ep ceslu sitting back on the outskirts of the party, lucrezia being a little depressed about paolo and cesare throwing the caltrops in front of juan so we still get the bit where they share a twisted sense of humor about harming their brother. *longing sigh*
