I'm embarrassed to admit how far I scrolled your blog because I saw you mention having a post about why you think the Marked Slayers lived past 25, haha. I'm always curious to read what other people think of that because I also see them living longer, just maybe not "full" lives, like maybe to their 40's-50's. Couldn't find it though 3: Gonna stick around though, great posts <3
I remember now it was a comment i replied to and not a post !!! But worry not , i shall explain in a post right now ✨✨
WHY I THINK THE MARKED SLAYERS DID NOT DIE AT 25
We know from Lady Amane that in their records, all the slayers from the Sengoku period that awakened their mark (except for Yoriichi Tsugikuni) have died around the age of 25. More explicitly, her words were - "they did not live past 25". Which, if you take it literally, means they died young, younger than 25, but not at that exact number. Which makes me believe that the slayer mark does not magically make you die at 25 years old - it damages your body enough to die young - younger than that. So here come my hypothesis :
1. GIYUU AND SANEMI AWAKENED THEIR DEMON SLAYER MARK THAT NIGHT AND ONLY USED IT FOR 5-6 HOURS. They did not use their mark for a long time, so their body did not have time to be damaged so much as to die so young. What i mean is that the slayers who used the mark their whole lives (maybe even 10 years if they awakened it at 15) - they died at 25 because their body could not take it anymore, and it makes sense. But the two Hashira used the mark for 5-6 hours, only one night, for the final battle - I don't think they would die so young for the few limited hours they used the mark.
2. TANJIRO - now that is a different discussion. He used the mark young, and for a longer time than them , for several fights. But let s make a calculation - Tanjiro manifested his demon slayer mark for the first time in the Entertainment district - against Gyutaro. After this came the recovery period, the Swordsmith village arc, another recovery period and the Hashira training - these are a few months compiled. Let's say 6-7 months, because in the infinity castle it wasn't winter yet. Tanjiro used it longer, yes, but nowhere near the amount of time they did in the Sengoku period, so i think it also wouldn't affect him so much.
3. Tanjiro is considered the reincarnation of Yoriichi Tsugikuni - we see this through his breathing style, his family history, his earrings, and most importantly, the inherited memories of demons who see Yoriichi in Tanjiro without even knowing who he was. Yoriichi was the only slayer of the Sengoku period who lived with his mark up to 80 years old despite having it since he was born and using it his whole life. This reinforces that Tanjiro will certainly not die at 25.
Yes, probably instead of dying at 70 years old, Tanjiro died at 50 and Giyuu and Sanemi at 60 - VERY rough estimate. But i really don't think they died at 25 or anywhere near that young.
4. Another theory i saw circulating which might also be the case - the demon slayer mark is compared to a "demon crest" and it is considered a curse. A curse tied to Muzan, that will make the slayer die so young , and we can consider that if Muzan is dead, and the Ubuyashiki curse is lifted as well - the demon slayer mark will not kill the slayers anymore either. There are no demons around, which might even mean that their demon slayer marks don't even exist anymore. They can't manifest them anymore, because there are no demons to kill.
I hope you enjoyed my theories and explanations and i will really die on this hill that after everything said and done the two remaining Hashira and the chosen one will not die so young because of the marks they manifested (and only used for a few hours or a few months respectively)

question, do you guys genuinely believe in the whole "sanemi, giyuu and tanjiro died at 25" thing?
i mean... the ubuyashiki illness disappeared after muzan died... so to me it doesn't make any sense that the demon slayer marks + their consequences still exist.
because they were made for a reason... the breathing styles, the marks... it was created to destroy demons, destroy muzan. and muzan is no longer alive.
but, is there anything in the manga saying that it still exists in the end? genuine question..!!
"i hate kanae because she doesn't have any flaws."
ah, yes... saying that a random boy will suddenly fix all of your feelings and giving you a coin to choose everything for you is totally okay...
and what if kanao wants to eat and the coin says no? she will starve... ect, etc. i love you kanae, but that was a very dumb idea, specially for someone as young as kanao.
kanae was a teenager with flaws, yes. we just don't see it most of the time because we mostly see her from shinobu's point of view.
HAHSH sorry if I spammed likes and did not realized it's jsht. I agree with EVERYTHING especially when it comes to Genya and kids. His ass does not know how to hold a baby without shaking in fear scared that he might drop them at any moment !!
twirls my hair omg thank youuuu...
also dw, we are mutuals on my main hehe so i def don't mind the spam like!!
also, right!! i can also imagine him holding the baby from their leg (because he's nervous) and going like "is this how you do it...??" and sanemi just facepalms.. like. "no— you fucking dumbass."
talking about shizu, ya'll need to start to be very mindful when you talk about her and kyogo.
i seriously do not understand why people say stuff like "heh 7 children, i'm sure shizu had a good time lol"
... it is... heavily implied that kyogo actually raped her.
and there was zero information that he started to be a horrible father right after they had their last child, by the way. genya literally said their father was always like that.
mind you, he was probably a shitty person for a very long time. he literally got stabbed to death because people despised him.

"shizu isn't a good mom" honestly, what do you expect from a very small and weak woman living with a giant man that beats her everyday and rapes her and abuses his children.
mind you, with her very weak body, she always protected her children.
no hate to anyone who haves this opinion, like, at all, but... meh. i just heavily disagree...
maybe she isn't a good mom but she definitely isn't a bad mom, if that makes sense.
i still firmly believe grown up genya would be awkward with kids.
he would not be the "caring, 100% experienced mother" that some people assume he'd be. like... yes, he had that """role""", (i don't like that it's called a "motherly" role... anyways.) but only when his siblings were still alive.
why do i think that?
i think people are forgetting that, regardless of what role he had, he's still sanemi's younger brother.
he doesn't exactly wanna take care of a child, he forgot how that's like because he lost all of his siblings, after all. he had a different dream.
was he looking for a wife? anyone? so he could have kids with? no, he was looking for his brother. because he needed his affection, he needed his protection, his approval.
genya was lonely for so long, too.
barking at anyone who tried to help or talk to him... it doesn't seem like a "i wanna take care of you" behavior, to me it's more of a "i want someone to take care of me."...
and the only one that wanted genya to move on, find someone and have children was sanemi, not genya himself.
oddly enough, i do think sanemi haves a better role to take care of a child. maybe that's for another post.
this is just my opinion. i don't mind if anyone views it differently.
god i'm just. so mad. like. GENYA. he was his own character, literally the most unique thing ever, and gotouge was like "yeah i'm killing him" and like, for what... sanemi's development, really?... why is it always about sanemi? don't get me wrong, i really love him, like, my second favorite character, genuinely. but like. AAAAAAAAAA
no i'm not saying this because genya is my favorite character, (maybe a little) but i genuinely do believe his death did not make any sense. like i know he was supposed to live and reconcile with his brother. and i don't care about how "unrealistic" it sounds, or how naive it sounds. (the only unrealistic thing was him dying—)
i could ramble about this for hours. like be for real, genya did not do all of that just to die.
listen, even muichiro haves a valid reason to die! not because i dislike him, (really isn't, it doesn't matter in this case) but it actually makes sense, unlike genya. the way they made his backstory, his connections to kokushibo, meeting his twin brother in heaven, everything!
i see a lot of people forgetting about this, in a way.
genya's body, even in his human form, is able to regenerate as well!
this is one of the reasons of why i genuinely don't believe that genya would be permanently blind if sanemi actually poked his eyes... just think with me!
so, about his tooth,
there is no way genya ate a demon in the swordsmith village after he pulled out his tooth and before the uppermoons showed up! it wasn't even implied. the swordsmith village was very protected, that's why there was no demons before. and we know genya stayed there the whole time.
it seems like when the wound is small, he's able to heal/regenerate it after some time.
sure, genya haves scars around his body that aren't healed. but maybe that's because he got them when he attempted to join the demon slayer corps. (basically, when he was weaker and younger. wasn't eating much demons or wasn't eating them at all.)
but also, i'm sure that many of those scars are from his skin being pulled due to his fast growth, because of the whole demon eating thing.
so, let's just say, IF tanjiro wasn't there to save genya's eyes, and sanemi actually blinded him...
genya, in a few days, would be able to see again! man, if he ate a demon later that night, it would regenerate faster! that's how his body works.

i feel like a lot of people say that because of some specific panels that gotouge drew...
but i need you guys to understand that gotouge doesn't always need to make perfect panels. in some drawings, there is so much happening that sometimes you don't need to give much thought about the body designs.
genya WAS weak, he was just skin and bones. but he's not like that anymore... that's the whole point of his design now. he ate demons and trained really hard, so now he's 1,80 cm, and ridiculously strong. and yes, he is buff...!
also!
his demon powers helped him, but don't underestimate his human form just because of that! we can see the way he fights demons. he has skill and he definitely doesn't lack strength!
the whole point of his character (aside from apologizing to sanemi and proving his worth to him) is to prove he's strong even without a breathing style. even if he fights with a gun. but a lot of people in this fandom seem to erase that.
this is not to offend anybody, by the way! it's fine to have headcanons or aus. i just see a lot of people saying he's canonically lankey, skinny, and weaker. and that doesn't seem to be the case...!
