Kaleesh Week

Day 1: Young

Her parents were brutally murdered in front of her, her friend was sniped, and later she was shipped to one of the Yam'rii camps. She thought it was over, little did she know, she was being shipped to another labor camp. The soil was infertile with little pieces of dying grass, the clouds were ominous, and there was blood spilled on the dead soil. Blood, but no bodies. She didn't even want to know where the bodies went. Like all of the ones that were spared, Lar'ita was marked with a number and had a tracking device put on her cheap uniform. She couldn't speak Kaleeshi, practice her religion, or speak freely at all. The Yam'rii taught her basic commands in Basic, although if she spoke more than what was taught, she would've been executed publicly for "getting smart". Baths were once a week, in unsafe showers with other Kaleesh.

I wasn't expecting people to fall for her either, a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one :)

After being inconsistent for what, 5 years? I finally figured out a way to draw Ronderu :)

Explanation/Analysis:

Ronderu is from the south pole, and like other people, I took the Space Katara route since she indeed is THE Space Katara. The people of the Northern and Southern water tribes were based on the Inuit people, which I did some research on for Ron.

I kept the original Kaleesh facial structure but also giving her Inuk features, which I feel I did well. For clothing, I looked at many different examples of parka, for variety, which is actually the best at insulating, compared to many modern clothing. Parka is made from the pelts of several different animal species from the regions, like caribou and seals. I also noticed how some parka have patterns, which I took artistic liberties on, based on some other Ronderu clothing designs. I had the idea of giving Ron seal pelt shoes, after not knowing what to give her, I think it looks good. Her karabbac pelt was based on Broly's pelt in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which I was inspired by in 2023. I kept it, considering the pelt was from her rite of passage.

As you may be asking, "Kylo, what is iqa?" Well, to put it simple, iqa are squid in the Grendaju tongue, derived from the Japanese word, ika/イカ. Also, karabbac dye is already canon, but I also wanted more options for color.

The teeth on her necklace were based on leopard seal teeth, which have very interesting shapes. The front teeth are designed for eating penguins, while the back teeth are meant for seaving krill!
