FIRST we have punk! there are a lot of subgenres. but i'll separate them by: 80s, 90s, early 2000s, modern

Sorry Mom- queercore modern punk with hints of riot grrrl. my fav is "I Fucked Yr Mom"

Destroy Boys- again, very queer coded, modern punk.

Suicidal Tendencies- very fast, kinda screamo, but you can also (mostly) understand whats being sung. theres at least one song by them in my metal playlist. My fav is "Institutionalized"

Mommy Long Legs- more "weird-core" than queer coded, but modern. hints of riot grrrl. okay who am i kidding, riot grrrl in strong in this one. I love "Weird Girl"

VIAL- i dont know how to describe this one. kinda riot grrrl, considered queer punk by some. "piss punk" is a fav

Cheap Perfume- "Its Okay to Punch Nazi's" is my favorite. They are very political punk. the music is VERY catchy

Dazey and the Scouts- this is a one-time hit band from 2017. they have one album. its very riot grrrl but also kinda queer-coded. my favorite song "sweet cis teen" or "wet"

Lambrini Girls- a very bold band. VERY riotgrrrl. "cuntology 101" is my fav

Gen and the Degenerates- punk pop-ish, VERY queer-core, very riot grrrl and i love it. my favorite songs are "girl god gun" and "girls!" oh, and, british band

Amyl and the Sniffers- i dont even know how to describe them. they refer to themselves as a "pub-rock" band, but punk is DEF there. fav is "u should not be doing that"

Bikini Kill- this is THE riot grrrl band. one of the ones everyone NEEDS to know (imo). my fav is "rebel girl"

Dead Kennedys- i havent listened much to these guys. they're very hardcore punk, VERY political. the only song i know is "nazi punks fuck off", but i know that this is one of the BIG punk bands so

Circle Jerks- im not a huge fan of these guys (i havent listened to much of their music), but they seem to be important to the punk scene as well

Le Tigre- very pop-y, but i love it. the founder of this also founded Bikini Kill. I LOVE "deceptacon" and "phanta"

The Offspring- punk rock specifically. yes, basic, but i love "pretty fly (for a white guy)" so shut up /j

Green Day- this band is just something else. idk how to describe it, but mostly everyone knows "american idiot"... which is also one of my favs, along with "brain stew"

Heavenly- Originally 90s, but they've recently released some new music. i love "P.U.N.K. Girl", mostly kind of pop punk but then again ive only listened to that one song

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers- im in love with this band. very queercore. my favorite song is "AHHHH!". I love the vocals and the MUSIC really so

Mannequin Pussy- more rock-ish, but they sound kinda punk to me. just a little bit, its the lyrics. my fav is "you hear yes", which was co-sung by them, Destroy Boys, and Scowl

The Linda Lindas- they're garage rock mixed with power punk and other genres. I don't have many of their songs liked, so i gotta double down and listen to them more. my fav is "all in my head"

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts- joan jett is a classic. riot grrrl, rock n roll kinda band. just as prominent as bikini kill, in my opinion. my fav is "i love rock n roll"
