i think Lane would genuinely be happy for MC! but i also think itd stir up a lot of complicated feelings in him.

deep down, hed be incredibly envious and would constantly compare her family to his own.

that could even lead to Lane becoming irrationally angry at his dad, thinking stuff like:

"if you hadnt died, this is what our family couldve been."

ofc hed hate himself for thinking those things but he wouldnt be able to help it.

but yes! hed absolutely spend time with MCs family if she asked. hed probably enjoy it, even.

Q: About Lane, how did he feel about MC cutting all ties with him? 

Lane would never move on. Not in a year, not in 10 years, not ever. He'd never be the same person again, he'd become depressed, self destructive and empty. 

I think Lane would try to act normal at first like making jokes or pretending he doesn't care but deep down he'd carry that guilt for the rest of his life. Also it would probably make him become bitter, reckless and even crueler in how he talks and acts. But all of it would just be him trying not to think about it. 

he'd blame himself endlessly, always wondering what he could've done and hating himself for being so wrapped up in his own issues. but the guilt would still stay like something rotting in the background of his life.
