I've dreamt about eating at @wd50nyc for years. Thanks to @meemoojungle for coming with me before I left NYC and before their relocation! Ps; this tasted like Mac and Cheese! #latergram #wd50 #nyc #moleculargastronomy #foodscience #tapioca #cheddar #rice #wyliedufresne

Finally home in the US of A! (Let's play!) & found this gem while going through photos. Japanese kaiten-zushi (conveyer belt sushi) > most NYC sushi 👍 #narita #japan #latergram

Day 1 in Taipei: Earthquake, rain showers, underground mall shopping, and cat cafés
it is strange to be home
… i keep looking for my adapter to plug in my electronics. … i want to pull out my books to start studying. … i get my own room again!
also, as i was excited to share my joy to be home as i landed, the number of people i wanted share it with (or would care) was few. i wonder in two years, how many friends i will still be in touch with?

With the country suffering from a water drought, we had to choose between having water to shower OR water for our washer/dryer for a few days. Guess what we chose...
In my 30 years of owning stores all across the U.S., I know there is no such thing as chocolate sponge cake!
- owner of campus eatery that made our "chocolate" cake with vanilla sponge cake. we had to google image a picture of "chocolate cake with chocolate icing" for him.

Powerful spoken word: Patrick Roche - "21" (CUPSI 2014)
today was kinda awesome
snagged a coveted opening to shadow a Dr. N--, head of the pediatrics dept at the general hospital today. albeit short, it was SUCH a good reminder of why i'm here, why i spend almost every waking moment studying (or thinking about it) instead of enjoying nyc with friends/fam. it was also such an encouragement to see that i'm learning applicable clinical correlates + i'm absorbing it! i understood bits and pieces - we saw kids with lymphadenopathy, SLE, pleural effusion, tachycardia, generalized edema/albumin, skin lesions, distended abdomens, swollen tonsils -- I KNOW THIS STUFF. So unreal.
observations: - the pediatrics ward felt like a small upgrade above a clinic. it was certainly nowhere near as equipped as any pediatrics dept in a U.S. hospital. - there were 3-4 doctors (1 is graduating from my school in june!) on the floor, 6 interns. there were at least 20 kids, with at least 5 crying at a single moment. - Dr. N-- was the epitome of calm, loving, meticulous leadership. She listened intently to the intern/doctor presenting the cases and made comments to inquire, clarify, as well as educate. At the same time, she found moments to laugh with the nurses, pay attention to us shadowing med students, and comfort crying infants. What an inspiration! - a tonnnnn of lymphatic issues. or just a way to gauge how sick the kids are? if so? good. i know my lymphatics. - one of the kids had harry potter bedsheets! so cool. - need to research the country's healthcare. they were discussing how flabbergasted that a parent actually emailed the doctor saying it was the doctor's responsibility to take care of the child's medical bill... - i didn't see a single computer in the entire ward. maybe one. when they had to look up something, they had to find a handbook! an actual BOOK. so crazy. - there was an intern sitting there just making small cotton balls out of a huge huge bundle of cotton. this would NEVER happen in the U.S. you'd just buy it!
