(Note: All of my content on Sunny day jack is and will stay SFW despite the nature of the game!)
another note: IN this version of my insert and Jack, when Bunny got cheated on she and Ian were fiancee's.
"Are you having a rainy day sunshine? It's okay, let Jack make it bright and sunny again..."
She was tired. Extremely tired.
Working at the froyo shop was draining: constantly memorizing and taking orders in the summer rush, sweating under her stuffy uniform despite having the shop's ac on full blast, dealing with parents whose children couldn't POSSIBLY do anything wrong- even when they went around and make a big mess of their ice cream everywhere.
But worst of all- HE kept calling.
Bunny got a call earlier from Ian, and it drove her mad. Not in the romantic sense, but in the sense of you wanted to drive a knife through your phone kind of mad, in the hopes it would somehow cut all forms of contact between her and him- but she knew no matter how many calls she blocked, no matter how much she avoided him, he would just find a new way to pester her.
Bunny couldn't help but feel a slight ache in her chest despite his pestilance- why did she feel like she wasn't enough? Why did it feel like she was the problem somehow?
'We almost got married... He just had to go and ruin it." She reminded herself, remembering how hurt she was when she found out- She had clearly been more serious about marraige than him, as she didn't really like the whole idea of him wanting to date for a few years. Yet- he'd PROMISED her he was going to slip that ring over her finger- he'd even engaged her- so why on earth would he go and ruin everything for some Hollywood woman?
"stop! you can't cry right now you still haven't made it home yet..." She reminded herself, still wearing that stupid froyo uniform. She clocked out of work and opened the parlor doors, the rush of the summer heat flooding into the cool building, making her groan internally- If it was one thing she couldn't stand, it was the summer heat. It made her stick to everything, including her now slightly damp uniform.
To distract herself from the gross heat, she flipped on her favorite song in the car and began to high tail it home, knowing a certain someone was waiting for her eagerly...
...
About 10 minutes later, Bunny arrived back home to her apartment complex, and begrudgingly began to climb the stairs back up to her door, since the elevator (just so conveniently) was out of service. She felt incredibly out of shape in this heat, and practically resembled a melting ice cream cone by the time she reached her doorstep and fumbled around with her keys.
"Jack- I'm home! UMPF-"
Before she knew it she'd had been tackled to the ground by the ever-excited Jack.
"Oh sunshine!! I missed you soooo much! How was work today? You look like a mess- do you need me to run you a bath, sunshine?" Annnnnd there he was- in all his blue hair, red-nose, billion question self. She groaned as she struggled in his grip and wriggled out of his grasp.
"work was... terrible. As usual. And yeah- i'd like a bath. This summer heat is going to KILL me!" she whined as she got up from the floor and dusted herself off. Jack got back up as well and hugged her once again, almost as if he was afraid she'd vanish within his grasp.
"Oh sunspot, how about after a bath and a fresh change of clothes we sit on the couch and you can tell me all about your day? How's that sound?" He asked, his voice low and comforting. Bunny nodded and stretched her arms, letting out a strained grunt as she felt her bones crackle and pop.
"Sure- that sounds nice... I'll go get cleaned up now." So she left him in the kitchen as she went to her bathroom and ran herself a hot bath. As the steam flooded the room and the water reached a presentable height, she tossed her uniform aside and let herself sink into the hot suddy water, letting out a groan of content- it was almost like the stress was melting out of her body.
After giving herself a good scrub and rinsing, she drained the water and toweled off before changing herself into her favorite pajamas- it was a short and tshirt set that had a picture of the very hungry caterpillar under the printed phrase 'Very hungry'. The shirt itself was a light yellow with an apple on the sleeve ends, and the shorts were light green with little fruit decals printed all over it. Once she changed into them she grabbed ahold of her beloved childhood teddy bear, nicknamed Mephiles (after the renown sonic villain of course-) and carried him back over to the couch where Jack sat awaiting eagerly, arms outstretched for her to fall into their embrace.
Bunny collapsed into his arms, sitting comfortably atop his lap, her face tucked into the crook of his neck, taking in his warm and almost sweet scent- was that cotton candy?
She didn't have long to consider what the scent was before Jack brought her attention back to her little friend in her arms.
"so... This is Mephiles hm? The bear I hear so much about? What's so special about him sunshine?" He asked, genuinely curious. She looked down at the worn white bear and hummed in thought.
"I've had him for 20 years... my whole life. He's been there for me through everything and he's more than just a teddy- he's my little buddy." She told him, giving Mephiles an extra squeeze. Jack held Bunny closer before combing through her still damp hair with his fingers.
"you know... You remind me of all of those kids I used to see during my shows... everyone had their own little buddy! I've seen Bunny buddies, bear buddies, frog buddies... so much variety, yet all of them were everyone's first friend~" He reminisced on the memories of all of the kids and their stuffed toys, he'd gotten the chance to make many kids happy, whether it be mending their toys or pretending to sing along with them, it was always magical.
"You know sunshine, those moments were always so magical- but not as magical as the moment we're having together right?" Jack crooned, his fingers fiddling with a piece of her hair, making her melt into his arms.
"Yeah.... magical..." she sighed, the negative emotions from earlier beginning to bubble up again.
"um... Jack? Can I tell you something?" Bunny asked, fiddling with Mephiles's ears. Jack's face softened and he sat up a bit, still keeping her in his arms.
"Oh? What's wrong sunshine?" He asked.
Bunny took a deep breath before spilling out everything she'd thought about regarding her past with Ian- it wasn't pretty, and it ended up in a sobbing fit, her face pressed against his chest as she blubbered 'aren't I good enough?'
Poor Jack felt heartbroken for his darling sunshine who was so distraught at the pain inflicted by this- this Ian... He was going to have to find a way to deal with him, but for now? He just focused on calming Bunny down.
"Hey hey, shhhh... Don't say those things, you're MORE than enough sunshine! Look at me-" Jack lifted her face up from his chest to meet his eyes.
"Don't you ever let one guy determine your worth- because to me sunshine? You're just that- my sunshine. Your smile brings me joy every single day, and I love that youthful spark in you- you're not afraid to be yourself in a world that punishes that. You're unique, and that's all I could ever want or ask for, Bunbun." Jack praised her, his words flowing out so gently that she felt like she was on cloud nine.
"R...really? You mean all of that? You don't care about the teddy i have? or the fact I watch cartoons or still have dolls or playthings?"
She asked him, doubt eating at her. Jack chuckled and gave her a tight hug.
"BunBun… everyone has their own way of navigating the stress of the real world. Having a few things from your childhood doesn't make you any less you understand? I love that about you, that you take happiness in all of the small things life has to offer, and you're yourself around me when you can't be around others… I would say that's a great thing, sunshine."
Jack's words didn't feel forced at all- it seemed like it had come straight from the depth of his heart, It almost had an empathetic quality to it (Although she wasn't too sure how much a giant clown like man could empathize with her).
"Thank you Jack... I love you." She murmured as she sat pressed against him again.
"I love you too Sunshine... more than you could ever know... Now then, what say you and I watch some of that uh... what was it called again sunshine?"
"Blues clues?"
"Yeah- Blues clues. Lets watch some together. I'm sure Mephiles would appreciate that don't you?"
