Legundo refuses to be typecast and I can respect that
Saw an AU where Rocky was a figment of Grace's imagination and like 10/10 angst no notes. But it got me thinking about how that AU is enjoyable because that's explicitly not what happened in the film.
Could you imagine how crushing it would be to go through all that alongside Grace thinking "At least he has someone with him on his side finally." only for it to be revealed when Grace tried to find Rocky again that he never existed to begin with? How they'd push through a message along the lines of how he should have made more connections on Earth (despite the connections he did make) or end it with Grace floating through space symbolically making peace with the fact he's never going home?
If that was the ending there'd be riots. It would be so unsatisfactory to have a whole movie building up this intense, hopefully friendship only for it to not be real. There'd be 1000 "Rocky is real" AUs because the reaction would be "What was the point of the whole movie then? To lead up to that? That's not right."
It's probably not as subversive as I'm making it out to be for Grace to go to Erid and everything just work out with a happy life as a Teacher again but it is just that brilliant how the movie ends that way. It doesn't feel cliche and is earned which is its own brilliance but many filmmakers would make Rocky fictional to try add some kind of edge or commentary that doesn't make sense. I'm just so glad we got the ending we did and now we can enjoy fanworks subverting that and making us cry because we know exactly what could have been rather than leaving a movie theatre bewildered.

love the fact that it seems like pan!pearl is the only person from modern times in the series, which is truly incredible
people don’t enjoy shipping anymore. the point of shipping isn’t the catharsis of watching them kiss onscreen, it’s grabbing the characters and mashing their faces together like you’re five years old playing Barbie in your room again. it’s to take one moment of eye contact in canon and read that over and over and over again with twenty different writers’ interpretations of the characters internal monologues if they were in love. it’s to see the characters interact and cheer because you know that’s another moment to add to your list of canon compliant fic ideas. you’re stressing yourself out, this is supposed to be fun!

Was gonna tack this on my last post but I think it needs it's own because I noticed something.
When it comes to random messages and assessing if someone is a bot or not, posting fandom stuff isn't a solid indication of charecter anymore. If you suspect something is off, scroll a bit further on their accounts. The "credible" accounts which I thought were just being generally creepy but not bots only had around 30 reblogs, primarily PantheonSMP and House of Dragon (hi hello I don't go here but this affects you) which just so happen to be trending at the moment and these past few days.
Idk about anyone else but I use posting activity as a way to see if someone is botting as no posts, AI posts or porn posts indicate a bot who has no idea how this website works while fandom content indicates a human. It looks like bot profiles are going on what's trending, reposting a bunch of stuff, messaging people who are posting in trending tags (which would explain why I started getting this a few days ago because I've been posting A LOT of stuff tagged as pantheon smp. One even had only reblogged Pantheon content from me which felt especially targeted as they showed up a lot in my notifications.).
In other words, maintagging because while pantheon and house of dragon is trending make sure to be on the look out for bad actors trying to pass off as a fan and send you shady stuff. I mention these because they've been consistently trending a few days (I assume HOD had a moment recently?) and knowing their fandoms will keep trending for a few days but this applies to anyone in a fandom which trends frequently as something to be aware of.
If you can hit the bottom of their blog within 15 seconds, they probably aren't real.
