As of today, I've lost 20% of my starting body weight since June 6.

I work in a liquor store. Very glamorous, I know.

Anyway, sometimes I make an impact on people in the 5-10 minutes they're in my presence, and a couple of them felt the need to share that with the world.

Exhibit A: Damian Abeyta

Damian Abeyta works at the used furniture store next to mine. Damian was asked politely not to buy booze for the panhandlers outside, as they can be very aggressive- particularly towards women who are getting gas at the 7-11 without a male figure present. Damian became upset by this request. I advised him that I control the fermented beverage flow and that I can decide to refuse further purchases. Damian uses "I'll never shop here again." It's not effective. Damian uses "bad Google review." It is effective in making everyone laugh.

Exhibit B: M. Lister

I do not know who this is. I do know the review is about me, because I'm the only Native at my store. I am not, however, Navajo or a serial killer.

Props to this individual for creativity, but I'll have to take points away for objectification. Thank you for the high rating of our store, but please refrain from ogling the staff.

Oh, this is rich.

There are threads saying that unless you're Taino, you shouldn't complain about Columbus Day since it was the Taino he tried to wipe out and he never set foot on mainland North America. We should not be posting "Fuck Columbus Day" memes because it's not about us mainland Natives.

True, he did not come here. But Columbus Day has been celebrated on the mainland for decades. In Canada, it's Thanksgiving. There are CC statues across the country. He may not have touched this land with his physical body, but he touched this land in spirit.

I swear, I never want to buy all the things when I stop at the store when I'm driving home from work. But when I walk there from home, suddenly I need 5 lbs of potatoes and a whole chicken.

Three years and about 57 lbs difference. I never want to be that big again. Ever.
