I need people to hear this.

I was a good person before I got ill.

The illness didn't make me more good. It didn't improve some side of me that didn't already exist. In all the way illness showed up in my life, it broke me. It stole the parts of myself that I had worked on and adored. It shattered my self-perception and the story I have in my head about who I am as a person.

One page after another, every idea of me, that one big I, the "I am" smoldered to symptoms of illness.
