Juno: 8/10. Surprisingly good voice, even though heβs clearly never had training, and he tries not to sing if he can help it. When he does, itβs quiet, uncertain, and halting. But if heβs singing at all, you can bet itβs also incredibly heartfelt, vulnerable, and sweet. An experience not to be missed.
Rita: 5/10. She has no sense of pitch, she knows she has no sense of pitch, but she sings with such exuberance and joy that you love to hear it anyway. Tries to get Juno to join in, because booossssss, singinβ ainβt about doing right, itβs about havinβ fun and beinβ LOUD! This attempt fails almost every time.
Vespa: 7/10. A lot like Juno, honestlyβyouβd never expect her rough, gritty voice to be so soft and uncertain and beautiful. Buddy is the only person in the universe who has ever heard her sing. She would stab anybody else who caught her singing herself to sleep.
Jet: 3/10. He doesnβt have much of a singing voice. He will sing if it is necessary or relevant. However, he does not see the purpose of worrying over it when it is not necessary. He has many talents; singing simply does not happen to be one. That does not bother him, and he does not understand why the more talented members of the crew seem so shy about their own abilities. (cough juno cough)
Buddy: 10/10. Have you heard her speaking voice? She absolutely goes undercover as a shwanky jazz bar singer every chance she gets. Jet sometimes wonders if itβs really necessary every time, but Vespa always shuts him up before he can say anything. Peter is unreasonably jealous.
Peter: 0/10. Atrocious. Sings in the shower anyway.

I'm not saying this to sound so smart and evolved, I'm absolutely including myself in this. I am constantly in awe of how much I have had to unlearn and how much more I need to unlearn. The first time I saw someone criticizing the nuclear family model, I was completely taken aback, and now I fully recognize the ways in which this social family model perpetuates abuse, poverty, and neglect.
And the capitalist class really has us believing that the products we consume have something to say about our identity. It's fucking wild.
The United States is a country that believes that the availability of 27 different types of Oreos is somehow an indication of freedom while people starve to death on the streets and die because they can't afford a medication whose price is artificially inflated.
The idea that someone can earn (and therefore deserves) millions or billions of dollars is absolutely asinine! The myth of the "self-made millionaire" is an outright lie! And yet both are bedrocks of American culture.
