Child's Playroom Comes To Life
Waning: Slight spoilers for Disney Dreamlight Valley. As in very far in the game play through with most of the Valley unlocked as are its characters. (And mentioning the DLCs/Dream Bundles.)
Yarning walked out of her house in her favorite custom red dress she designed to look like Buttercup’s from the Princess Bride. Her long blonde hair pulled back into a half-updo that looked like a rose with the ends curled, tiny rosettes and leaves scattered about. Her sturdy riding boots crunched through the grass as she checked her mailbox.
There was a letter inside. It was a lovely letter from Cinderella, thanking her for her help in recovering her furniture making tools. As she was reading the letter both Cogsworth and Jasmine run up in a hurry, faces pinched in worry as they did so.
“Miss Yarning! Miss Yarning! Something terrible is going on in the Valley!” Cogsworth panted in a panic, gears clicking and clanking in frantic anticipation.
”It is a bit worrisome,” Jasmine said softly in agreement. “And I worry for the health of the citizens who actually can eat.”
“What do you mean?” Yarning asked Jasmine seriously. “What’s going on?”
“Well, Vanellope-“ Jasmine began before being cut off by Cogsworth.
“That unruly candy coated miscreant of a delinquent found out about the snow child’s misadventure in making Arendellean hot chocolate and convinced the living toys to have him make it again! Thank goodness Remy told them all no but that dratted talking skeleton man said they could use his kitchen! FOR SCIENCE!” Cogsworth ranted, sweat dripping down his face. Yarning could tell if he was human he would be close to having a coronary.
“At least they have adult supervision?” Jasmine offered hesitantly, unsure how helpful the advice really was.
Yarning sighed and pinched the sides of her nose. It was bad enough last time what with Olaf thinking that hot chocolate could be made from coffee beans and mushrooms still blows her mind, but childlike logic she guesses. She adjusted her glasses into place before looking at her two friends. “I‘ll handle it, you two go have a nice cup of tea or something and calm down.”
Using her unique Dreamlight Magic to glide around the Valley faster, Yarning practically flew around the Plaza, across the Sunlit Plateau, and into the Forgotten Lands. As she did so, she mentally chanted, “Please be a small mess, please be a small mess, please be a small mess.” Just as she arrived a loud BOOM! was heard as was Jack Skellington’s insane cackle.
Yarning raced up the stairs to see chaos and mess everywhere. Thank goodness neither Stitch nor Vanellope were inside or everything was likely to be on fire or glittered instead. And considering Olaf was made of snow the fire part would be bad. The controlled scorch marks and burnt… whatever that was… were bad enough.
“I don’t think that one was edible either,” Woody said sardonically.
“What gave it away?” Buzz mumbled under his breath.
“No but it did prove my theory right!” Jack replied enthusiastically.
“It’s so pretty,” Olaf murmured as he looked up at the ceiling where the supposed “hot cocoa” had turned into a type of aurora borealis.
Yarning took a deep breath for strength and courage before clapping her hands in a stern and official-like manner. “Alright gentlemen time to pack it up and put it away! It’s past time to clean up now, come on, bup bup bup!”
Olaf, Buzz, and Woody let out various sounds of disappointment but did start to clean up what they could. Jack however let out a dismissive noise and waved his hand at Yarning in a shooing manner. “Nonsense! We’re in the middle of some delicate experimentations! Besides a little dirt hardly matters in the name of science!”
“A little dirt? This place is a mess! There’s blasting sprays everywhere, sticky burnt I don’t know what stuck to the floor, and I’m afraid to ask what’s dripping all over the coffin table,” Yarning tried to explain.
“Well I AM the King of Halloween,” Jack hummed smugly.
“Jack, how do you think Sally’s going to feel when she comes home and sees all this?” Yarning said exasperated as nothing she has said has gotten through to the King of Halloween. That makes Jack pause, lift his goggles, and look around. The mess is huge and by the sounds of the screeching cat clock, Sally would be due home from visiting her sewing circle any minute.
“Er… would you…?” Jack begins sheepishly as he, Buzz, Woody, and Olaf stop what they’re doing.
Yarning gives a tired but sincere smile, “Of course I’ll help you boys clean up. We’ll be done in no time with the help of the Royal Tools.” And she was right, with a last swish of her watering can, the last bit of soot explosion was washed away just as Sally walked in the door.
“Oh, hello Yarning, it’s good to see you. Hello Buzz, hello Woody, hello Olaf,” Sally said in her normal dreamy tone. “How are you all doing today?”
“Hello Sally, I’m doing well. Just came by to discuss some things with the guys. How are you doing today Sally?” Yarning asked as the guys slowly relaxed.
“I am doing well, thank you. But I have a feeling that you’re needed somewhere,” Sally said with a mysterious smile.
“Oh?” Yarning asked. “Do you have any idea where?”
“Somewhere green with lots of trees, where you helped with a dance once before.”
“A dance? What kind of dance?” Yarning questioned curiously.
“One involving lots of flowers,” Sally replied before she noticed the aurora on the ceiling. After a few more minutes of polite conversation, YC left and continued about her day.
