"Racialised" is much better than PoC but I've been leaning a lot on the concept of racial markedness. Because that allows us to make statements like "the name Jamal is racially marked in USA". Rather than saying something like "Jamal is a PoC name", a nonsense statement, saying it's racially marked in USA allows us to contrast with societies like Albania or the Arab countries where the name Jamal is ordinary, thus unmarked.
It's a concept I've kind of imported from linguistic analysis; saying a speech pattern is more or less marked does not really allow us to avoid the subject of who's doing the marking. A statement like "womens' speech is more marked in Lakota" necessitates that we understand that it's the Lakota who are marking womens' speech. A foreigner can't tell the difference and probably doesn't understand why it would thus be weird to see a man using speech patterns associated with women, in the same way an Albanian wouldn't understand why USA people would think Jamal is a Black name.
You! You get it. In my view, if someone is saying "racialised" or "racially marked" without acknowledgement of context, they are doing it in a way that is gramatically incorrect.

I'm a bigger fan of the 2009 story than most, but one thing I would have liked to see go differently is Mata Nui actually having to participate in the Glatorian system before its dissolution, instead of never having to be involved at all. Justify that life counter and Thornax Launcher in his set and make him actually have to use them.
Like he'd still arrive in Vulcanus and make a big scene as usual (maybe with a bit of a rewrite to make Strakk's behaviour make more sense), but instead of immediately heading out on his Grand Quest the next day, he'd actually get pushed into being signed on as Vulcanus' new Second Glatorian, either through being railroaded by Metus and Raanu without really understanding what's going on until it's too late to say no, or willingly accepting it on Ackar's advice. He'd then stay in Vulcanus for some time, training with Ackar and learning how this world works and how to survive it, slowly. Eventually he'd have to fight some real matches, perhaps traveling to the other villages for them. Kiina would most likely be his first opponent to ensure she's introduced early enough to join the main squad, then maybe the other Glatorian Legends characters after her to keep the summer wave in focus. Naturally, Mata Nui would spend a lot of this time getting his ass kicked, but he would steadily improve, maybe even snag a win somewhere in there. Then in between fights he'd talk with the other Glatorian, explore the villages, and pursue leads that could tell him anything about his connection to this world and how he might return to his body and save his people. Eventually the movie plot would kick back in, and there'd be the discovery of a traitor, granting the Glatorian elemental powers, marching on Roxtus, etc. But the road getting there would be longer, and both Mata Nui's growth and role in the conflict would feel much more earned. There would actually be some progression between him barely surviving against a Vorox and Strakk, to beating Tuma one-on-one. And actually having to participate in the culture of the Glatorian and the Agori would give Mata Nui more of a reason to care about their struggles, and a unique perspective on the flaws in the system, leading towards the push to dismantle it and unite the tribes.
I do understand the faster pace the story team chose to take for the second half of 2009; with the Skrall having already sacked Atero and effectively declared open war, dragging out the other villages continuing to play at arena matches feels somewhat narratively dissonant. But, I really do feel like the latter half of the year could use the extra time. Time for Mata Nui to struggle with his new situation before everything is resolved in a neat little bow. Time to see the Glatorian system in action before it's gone for good. Could do it like in the Adventures series where all of this is technically going on within the runtime of The Legend Reborn, but it gets glossed over or only acknowledged through montage, so it wouldn't interrupt the story the movie was going for.
Idk, I really like the premise of 2009 and Bara Magna as a setting, but as soon as Mata Nui arrives, it feels like everything comes to a close too quickly and too easily. I wish it had kept taking its time, and I feel like Mata Nui actually being a Glatorian, even if only briefly, would have been a good way to make that happen. Let him get his hands dirty. He's a stranger in this land, he should have to play by its rules for a while before the plot bends over backwards to move him along.

Creation of the World (1864) by Ivan Aivazovsky
people should be allowed to have low ambition, and also be able to feed a family on the salary of a cashier at a convenience store.
And! We need cashiers. And convenience stores. And I think it's kind of broken that society says people who want to do stuff like that have "low" ambition (not you OP, I get you're using it illustratively because that's what society labels said jobs) and don't deserve to live at the same standard as people with "high" ambitions.
If we need someone to do a job, that job is a role in the community and deserves not just a salary but cultural respect for the role.
"high" ambition jobs are all jobs that involve domineering and controlling others. "low" ambition jobs are all jobs that involve service to others. Have you noticed? Because I have noticed.
But serving others is actually more needed than controlling them.

people are saying this happens because Sparkling Aria cures burns, so if your Pokémon has a burn he will try to heal it and make that heal extra good by doing a z-move instead of a normal one
and if that’s not fitting for him then i don’t know what is
Here’s a hilarious video of this phenomena.

The wildly off-model Gukko in BIONICLE: The Game and the random unnamed seabirds in Legends of Metru Nui look surprisingly alike. You really would not have to work hard to convince me these are the same bird.
Referenced from the work of Ben_Brickson on Instagram who does not appear to be on this app.
I am continuing to challenge myself with bigger scenes and more detailed settings. This Ga Metru scene was big perspective for me on a lot of aspects of scene drawing that I still have very little practice in.
Continuing the 810NICLEDay celebrations, I also took part in an art collab to mark BIONICLE's 25th anniversary!
Here's my artwork of Nuhvok-Kal :)
I think a lot of fandom's problems would be solved if more people who need some kind of religious structure in their lives actually found an appropriate faith tradition and stopped trying to derive a moral code and a reason for living from movies and TV shows. You can't have a fun conversation about art with someone who is treating that art like their sacred text, particularly when they become enraged that the blasphemous show runners and writers are destroying the True Religion by putting in a subplot they don't like
Key to Mutran and Chirox is that they’re both idiots. Chirox is unimaginative but gets to the point. Mutran is incredibly creative but cannot get to the point to save his own life. Like quite literally that’s how he dies. I imagine Mutran was more popular prior to the Brotherhood’s turn to darkness because Chirox ruined everything he touched (albeit in a more impressive way than Spiriah, whose work was generally mediocre) but when the Brotherhood became corrupt, Chirox’s work became exactly what it needed as he got elevated to Mutran’s level, maybe even more because Mutran lacked a certain practicality when it came to taking over God’s body.

Something that people still do not understand about the pandemic is how much the data was just erased or skewed so that we would all go back to work. An entire generation is facing mass disability because of a *preventable* illness that is still circulating untraced and undocumented.
Disabled people tried to warn us.
Epidemiologists tried to warn us.
Historians tried to warn us.
But when the money stopped flowing, it didn’t matter anymore. The lives and the quality of life of the masses was considered the cost of business.
I don’t even know how to grieve when no one will even acknowledge it.
