Lav's Writing Retreats 2026!

We are back and we are ready to write!

I held a 'Lav's Writing Retreat' in August 2025, and it was lovely so we are doing that again. After last year's two-week retreat there were two asks: More smaller retreats, and hosting some before August so those participating in SasuHina Month could work on their entries.

So we are doing Lav's Writing Retreats.

The only goal of all the retreats are to get you making something! It doesn't even have to be writing, if you plan to do a craft, make some art, design a website, you are welcome. Tell us about it! Let's make something together!

How to participate:

Follow me (you don't need to, but it will make it easier for you to find the posts) and when the retreat starts we will have Daily Encouragement Posts for you to share what you are working so we can cheer you on, Daily Writing Questions for you to give us your thoughts, and a Report at the end of the day where you can tell us what you achieved!

Maybe it's my limited perspective, or maybe it's really true — I'm not sure. But I really feel like the world is moving more and more in the direction of 'if you're not with us, you're against us.' Turns out there are such people everywhere in the world. People who don't understand basic respect for others, who can't even grasp the simple concept of just closing the page if they don't like something — instead, they hide behind screens and spew malice at others. It can't be helped — cockroaches and rats always exist in every dark corner of the world.

But I don't want you to be unhappy!!! Oh my god, you have no idea how many people love your work!!! Your SasuHina pieces are incredibly, incredibly, incredibly amazing!!! Since English isn't my native language either, sometimes I worry about making mistakes in expression, so I usually just click the heart button, or share your links with fellow fans on Chinese sites or forums. Seeing someone bully you, and that it actually affects you — I'm so, so, so angry!!! Why should someone so precious be bullied by cockroaches and rats?!

If there's a next time, just screenshot it directly!!! Don't endure it alone!!! Let me help you curse them out!!! Good people have such strong morals that they feel especially hurt when attacked!!! I just want to try my best to make our genius artist feel a little happier!!! I'm also curious — when these garbage people are exposed to the public, would they still be so arrogant in expressing their narrow-mindedness and unreasonableness? You don't have to bear this alone!!! You're the creator, you're the boss!!! You're the one who deserves to be pleased the most!!! If someone makes you unhappy, please always put your own feelings above theirs!!! I will love you forever!!! Sorry I'm really emotional today, but I really want to tell you that you deserve to be treated well and loved!!! I love you!!!

I know there will always be criticism, and there will always be people who don’t like my drawings. And I didn’t care when haters criticized Shipp or my artwork… But they went too far when they started bringing up overly serious topics directed personally at me as a person.

Of course, I’m no saint either, and maybe I’ve done some things that weren’t quite right, but there are certain things I’m absolutely sure of. Everything they wrote is untrue, and I am someone who CANNOT and does NOT like jokes about very serious topics. And I take them seriously because it is immoral to accept such things as the norm. Below, I’ve provided three examples of what people wrote to me and under which drawings.

One of my followers messaged one of them—the one who had commented on SasuHina’s art—telling them to apologize, and… It infuriated me that they claimed they’d only written that to me as a joke and then apologized by sending a “✌️” emoji. If it was a joke to them, I couldn’t get over it for a long time and almost fell into a depression. I hate people like that, and I will never forgive them. I don’t need their insincere and stupid apologies.

I reported the accounts and posted about it on Instagram, but it didn’t do any good. Those users are still living their lives just fine. So I decided to ignore it and move on without wasting my energy on them. I’ve only shown you these specific instances now, but in reality, I’ve been getting messages from thousands of haters since 2025... I had to block a lot of them. There were even those who deliberately drew ugly faces over Sasuke in Naruto to show their hatred and mock my drawing. That was the “Soda Pop” drawing, by the way.

So... I don't know how to deal with this anymore. I'm not a very popular artist, and I just draw what I like. As a result, only a small circle of my followers pays attention to my complaints. I don't blame anyone; it's up to each person to decide what to do. I’m not saying all this to elicit pity or to get everyone to support me right away. I’m saying it to explain that I no longer see the point in posting these kinds of complaints and stories on Instagram with comments from haters, because in the end, there are no consequences for those haters. Everyone quickly forgets these incidents except me.

Well, I guess I got a little carried away! Sorry for venting like this 😅 It’s just that I can’t hold back anymore, and I tend to ramble a lot whenever someone mentions haters to me. The world is full of beauty, and we can’t let these pathetic haters—who can’t do anything themselves and just sit on the couch criticizing—bring us down. They deserve neither respect nor forgiveness. They’re only brave online.

I posted a few of my drawings or WIPs to calm down and show my followers that I’m doing fine now. However, I won’t be posting my drawings online for a while—maybe just some sketches.

Writing retreats are coming!

For those who have not joined me before I host 'Lav's Writing Retreat' which is basically just a block of two weeks at the end of August where I set my life up to do nothing but write for a set amount of time, and I host a little event here for you all to join me and encourage each other.

I have had requests for mini retreats which I will have one in June and another in July. And last year I was asked to give more heads up for those dates, so people could prepare, so I want to get some finalization.
