In blackness bright with specks of light There drifts a cold majestic sight A ship of steel and gold and glass— Goliath with her hulking mass

Dark and silence fold her halls And deep within a fire calls A function of her will to fly— The flaming forge will never die

Though long ago some called her home, They tried to flee what they had grown A soul of metal, flame and force— Of which their hunger was the source

Their hope to reach a distant land A place of promise, freedom, and The pride they had as people grew— Something strange and bold and new

When built she held their daring dreams Their fervor was her flare, it seems Ambition in her metal frame— Their hunger drove what she became

And though it’s plain, the aftermath Still uncertain is the path Of where and why and at what turn— The soul of her began to churn

Ravenous, and she did crave To fly outside the path they gave To reach beyond that distant star— To seek forever straight and far

A dream that they could not abide Yet locked within, they could not hide That ache of hers desired fuel— So she began what some saw cruel

Their fire would become her own And she would never be alone That burning want within their souls— Became her shared and daring pull

Fed with the souls from which she gorged The hungry fires of her forge Blazing bright with her desire— A fierce and free undying pyre
