Growing up, my dad would play Tom Pettys albums on repeat with no shame, and as i got older i really grew to adore how uplifting a lot of his songs can be. Ironically, I’ve grown up scared of big decisions and found it difficult to cope with changes. When i’m really down or just need a reminder, I play this song and do a mini dance session just to destress and process how everything is okay and if it won’t be, thats okay too because i cant always control it. To me i feel this song is all about trying and pushing through despite the doubts and uncertainty and in the end one benefits because to me you’d be proud because shit is hard and will weigh you down from trying. My heart will always be connected to this, because of my youth, my dad, and my strength.
