he looked bored already. naraku raised an eyebrow at her, just some, when she mentioned his advice was of ‘lower’ demons. “demonic nature is what demonic nature is.” and that’s all he’ll say on the matter. her incessant bitching certainly was grating on his nerves more than usual. at her question of his ‘humanity’, naraku’s eyes narrow just a fraction,

“Speak what you will. My only concern is for that boy. Leave him be. His father is not one to cross and not even you, should tempt your luck.”

♛ “A cheap win counts for nothing and wouldn’t satisfy anything. “ Shura was getting frustrated.  “Maybe it makes you happy but it wouldn’t for me.” 

“Ah…so there is your most prized possession. I still do not understand why you seek it to be completed, but as you know I will not stand in your way.” She had no reason to do so, after all. The Shikon Jewel was an artifact known to cause all those who came into contact with it nothing but suffering. Beyond not needing it’s power, Kaguya certainly did not want her rather comfortable lifestyle to be uprooted by a stupid gem.

As he explains himself, the ever observant night enchantress can pick up on his frustration. She was one with the ability to see into the hearts of those she interacted with, but in Naraku’s case, she didn’t need it to see how delightfully tormented he is that he has yet to understand all the secrets of this world. He always did enjoy and desired being on top and in control of things, a trait that reminded her of someone else she was familiar with. 

“Considering the pathetic nature of every other half-breed I’ve come across except for you, I think my praise is quite justified. You are a rare and special case.” He was the only half-demon she had come to respect, a fact Kaguya had made clear time and time again. “It does not shock me that things have advanced so much. It is as natural as the flow of time itself. Just like it is natural for humans to still cause their own misery….Such foolish and entertaining creatures….”

the corner of naraku’s lips twitch, into something of a near smile. it’s rare for him to smile genuinely, that part of himself has long since been buried. shed. “...how kind of you. that is high praise indeed, kaguya. i will treasure it.” he listened on as she mulled over the technologies of this age, and the fool hearty nature of humanity.
