The main cast of DL is not Japanese,but they HAD to move to Japan due to more reasons.

In Laito’s Maniac 7(HDB),Laito revealed while having a conversation with Richter that the Sakamakis used to live in Eastern Europe before moving to Japan.

In the case of the Mukamis,they’re all European otherwise Yuma/Edgar wouldn’t have met Shu.In Ruki’s LE route,he visited his homeland which is confirmed to be Romania and he even read a book about Romanian history.

When the Tsukinamis were introduced,they were described as foreign exchange students from Great Britain.

Now,I know I have already written about Yui’s backstory but I’m going to write it again a bit more detailed.

After being pushed off the balcony by Laito,Cordelia was on the verge of passing away when Richter saw her.Her last wish was her heart to be taken away by him so as to be implanted in someone else.Richter had to act fast but much to his luck,he found an orphan dead baby and then he implanted the heart inside of her.Being on a whim,he found Seiji and entrusted Yui to him,so as Karlheinz wouldn’t find out.But…Seiji ran away with Yui to Japan and Richter had to search all this time for them in order to reunite with Cordelia.
