I felt that some of these meshes didn't have many recolors so I had to fix that :)

I don’t know if anyone else is even interested in this, but I have spent days trying to figure it out so I might as well post what worked for me.

There was a fun discussion on PBK about Playing Servants and the different ways that people do that. I love playing households with them but one of the things that I’ve always wanted to be able to do was control where and how my households eat. Imagine my glee when I learned that Simlogical’s Eating and Serving Controller and Neder’s Variable Meal Servings exist! 

These mods make it so that you can allow/disallow eating and serving on certain surfaces and the meal servings mod allows you to set the number of servings for each household. No more having to watch my servants like a hawk to make sure they don’t serve at the kitchen tables or set a place for themselves at the main table!

Buuuut, you know me, I didn’t like the default mesh for the Table/Counter Controller, so here is a replacement. It’s a small salt cellar using a mesh from Lady Lama at the Medieval Smithy. It also comes with an invisible recolor. I haven’t changed the filename so just replace the file that comes with the Table/Counter Controller mod and you’re good to go! 

Bookworms get more fun from reading books in general. They will be more attracted to reading books.*

Brooding Sims are more attracted to write in their diary than other Sims.

Childish Sims get more fun from reading Children’s books.

Computer Whizzes get more fun from reading Scifi books.

Dramatic Sims get more fun from reading Drama books.

Hopeless Romantics get more fun from reading Romance books.

Natural Cooks get more fun from reading Cooking books (not to be confused with the book used to study Cooking skill).

Perceptive Sims get more fun from reading Mystery books.

The fun bonus stack up, so a Sim with both the Natural Cook and Bookworm traits will have a bigger fun gain from reading Cooking books for example.

* With Freetime, the way the autonomy works for reading books changes, so you will need mrclopes’ Read Books Autonomy mod to make it work again, though Apartment Life is needed. Be sure that this mod loads before mine.

Required mod: Smarter EP Check

Required EPs: It’s a bit complicated because books differs greatly depending on expansion packs, so it depends on each file you install:

readBookAutonomy: Nightlife or later. If you have Freetime and Apartment Life, be sure to download this mod or it won’t do anything.

moreFunFromBooks: Freetime (though Apartment Life is recommended)

brooding_writeDiaryAutonomy: Nightlife or later

I wish I could make a more compatible version that only requires Nightlife, but I guess it’s not possible for now.

Not required, but recommended mod: Freetime books fixed by gummilutt, especially if you don’t like the motive changes from different book genres like hunger decrease from reading Cooking books, hygiene decrease from reading Scifi and social increase from reading Romance books. You can download GummiluttFTBookFixMoreRealistic and change the BCON to your liking. GummiluttFTBookFixOnlyFun isn't compatible with this mod though, so you can download GummiluttFTBookFixMoreRealistic and change the BCON for other motives at 0.

Whoo hoo! Thanks to @fireflowersims​’s help, not to mention the release of their traits, I can share this!

This is an edit of the Diary Writing Autonomy mod (brooding_writeDiaryAutonomy) from “The Sweet Scent of Books”.

With this mod, sims with the Brooding and Scribe (my default replacement of the Photographer’s Eye) traits will autonomously write in their diaries. It also comes with a literacy check in two flavours: one with illiteracy as the default (so sims without either traits won’t be able to), and one with literacy as a default (no changes).

Choose only one, and please make sure to replace Hexagonal-Bipyramid’s original mod.

Followers Gift: In Bloom.

One of the things about playing a historical neighbourhood, is that all of the content I make, is made to fit that neighbourhood.  This meant that when I suddenly and surprisingly had 100 followers here, the vast majority of the stuff I’ve made recently, or I’m working on,will be of little use to most of those followers.  I mean, ok I think that quite a few people will like the add on window and shelves I’ve made for Shakeshaft’s Victorian shop front set, but given when I was play testing, I discovered my window was letting in snow and I had to remake it, I want to do more play testing before I release those.  So I was sitting, racking my brains as to what to do as a gift, when it struck me, I had something I’d just posted pictures of, that I hadn’t shared yet: the vaseless flowers.

Like nearly everything I make, these came about because of the era I play.  Glass vases just don’t look right in a house decorated in the High Victorian style, so I took the flowers I use most and separated them from their vases so I could place them in vases that did look right.  In the archive, you will find Macarossi’s bluebells, freesias, irises, protea and miltonia.  Cassandre’s lilies, which I also resized because they were too big, and the craftable flowers from OFB.  They are all slaved to the original meshes, and so I’ve included those in the master folder.  HOWEVER, this does also mean that you need OFB for the craftables to not flash blue.  If this is a big problem for anyone, let me know and I’ll remake them.

+ Trait mod version!

With these mods, proposed sims who accept and have at least 7 outgoing points and 8 playful points will jump from excitement and then leap to hug their partner, regardless of their gender. With the trait mod version, any sims with the excitable trait in their inventory will do this too. Other sims will use the more composed animation that was originally only enabled for males.

Both versions are included with the download. Only use one at a time!

Download (SFS) - Easy Inventory Check is required for the trait mod version only. Both versions conflict with @midgethetree’s Engagement Proposal Animation Mod, which makes proposals always use the male animations.

Hey everyone! This is a very random post, but it’s something I thought I’d share with you, both for my own reference and to maybe add something fun to your games!

These are online available filters that, to me, work really well for medieval(ish) games and are versatile enough to look good with most in game pictures! So I’ve compiled some example pictures! These filters are on sites with hundreds of of others, but these are my preferred ones! To use, I take in game pictures, put them through these filters and have my painter do a custom painting!

OIL PAINT - Very beautiful, very versatile, very realistic looking!! It basically adds this dreamy, slightly painterly filter to the pictures!! Definitely a favourite for portraits especially!

OIL PAINT (2) - This one is the most realistic filter, with the light reflection and aged paint damage!! Super lovely, beautiful for both portraits and especially landscapes!

WEAVING - I adore this filter for one purpose specifically: Cindy Sim’s Weaving Station! I’m aware cross stitch ain’t exactlyyyyyy ‘weaving’, but I find that this filter gives me the most appropriate look with a weaved tapestry, rather than an actual picture! As pictured, you can choose to use between 2 and 50 colours for your tapestry, which is also lovely and useful! (bonus: another cross stitch filter!)

SKETCH - Finding a sketch filter online ain’t hard, there’s thousands! But this one is my favourite! It just makes Sims pics look best, especially with the black&white option and the ‘texture’ option (it makes the bg looks so nice). You can also choose faded edges!

ETCHING - This one works best w a plain empty bg and a simple scene! It creates this old, engraved illustration type of look! I could definitely see it as a book or map illustration!

Aren’t you tired of updates?

At first I was working on these new features and adding memories from the recent update simultaneously, but it turned out this update required more time and I didn’t want to wait to release both updates together, so here’s another update of poison mod.

What’s new?

I added new potion. It’s nauseating poison from TSM. Instead of killing Sims, it’ll give them food poisoning. It can be found in general/misc for $125. Sims can drink it or grab the flask and put it into their inventory.

Once a Sim has nauseating poison in their inventory, they unlock Poison…/Give food poisoning interaction. It’s a part of updated Meduza_poison_sim_interaction. Original Poison interaction has been renamed to Poison…/Kill.

Poisoning with nauseating potion works similarly to deadly poison - the chance of making other Sim drink poison is based on other’s Sim logic and lucky/unlucky traits. However, neither Sim will receive any memory, because the memories I’ve made indicate killing/being killed. The poisoner will give the other Sim a bottle with green liquid. Let’s pretend it’s totally not suspicious. I was too lazy to create another goblet/cup/something that wouldn’t look that poison-y to this mod. I’d have to create one for old times gameplay and another for modern times gameplay and that’s too much work.

Nauseating poison can be also crafted at the spy crafting station for $100 per bottle.

Moreover, I added cooking skill requirements for potions. Now preparing nauseating poison requires at least 2 points of cooking skill, preparing @earlypleasantview​​‘s poison ivy requires at least 4 points of cooking skill and preparing deadly poison requires at least 6 points of cooking skill.

Another feature added with this update is creating potions with @sunmoon-starfactory​​‘s TSM Herbs. You’ll only see this menu if you have the herbs installed. It doesn’t exclude options that allow paying money to make potions - let’s just say that when you choose paying for creating potions, Sims use that money to buy ingredients. ;)

To produce nauseating poison with ingredients, your Sim needs to have 3 baskets of belladonna, 1 basket of lordleaf and 2 baskets of seeds.

To produce poison ivy with ingredients, your Sim needs to have 2 baskets of belladonna, 1 basket of bloodmoss and 1 basket of lordleaf. (this recipe should probably include actual poison ivy, but I don’t think there’s anywhere harvestable poison ivy)

To produce deadly poison with ingredients, your Sim needs to have 1 basket of angelweed, 2 baskets of belladonna, 3 baskets of bloodmoss and 4 baskets of nightshade.

You can also use spy crafting station to check recipes. It’ll display message informing you about required skill level, properties of a potion and needed ingredients.

The mesh of station has been revamped a bit - kettle no longer appears when Sims start preparing potions and doesn’t disappear when they finish. The candle under the kettle still will be lit up when Sims prepare potions. I removed additional kettle from the right side of the station and placed there a jar instead.

Simpliciaty Romane

...with no sims, and all of your lots where you left them! This can be very useful for building or just general backup reasons. (I can't take any credit for this method! This tutorial is based on Mootilda's suggestion on MTS here.) I had to split this into two parts because of Tumblr's photo limits. Sorry about that!

Part 1

Tired of the many conflicts with alfixes? Can't put up with Pescado hiding features in his mods? Then this might be of your interest.

Alfixes is something that has bothered me for a while, ever since I found out that it deletes date cards. No wonder I've barely seen them in game!

With Charity's documentation on the topic, we now have a compiled list of mods to fully replace the few documented (cough) features that weren't already fixed by EAxis in Mansions & Gardens/later patches/Ultimate Collection. What you'll need to download is...

(List under the cut. Also stick around for my own extracted features, which I haven't found corresponding mods for.)

So during the process of rebuilding one of my custom hoods my game generated some downtownies (which was totally on me, my bad). I decided to start the hood over in a clean environment so I could play without the downtownies walking around my hood.

I recreated an empty version of my hood (terrain only) and attached empty versions of the same subhoods I used previously (also terrain only). I managed to copy over the hood deco just fine for the main hood and it’s subhoods using HoodReplace, but what stumped me the most was the lots (A. because there were a ton, and they were more or less specifically placed in a way I didn’t enjoy the idea of repeating, and B. You can’t copy over lots or the position of lots over in HoodReplace, only the elevation of lots that exist in the same position on both).

I found this thread on modthesims during my research, in which Mootilda suggested copying both the lot descriptions and the lot subfolder from the old hood to the new hood using SimPe. (This essentially involves extracting the lot description from each hood/subhood and using the “add” function in SimPe to transfer them over to the new hood.)

I followed this process for the main hood and all three of my subhoods and I’m pleased to say it worked! Every lot was in the right place, and I now had a completely clean, sim-free, and identical version of my original hood. I can write up a more detailed, explained version of this if people want, but as Mootilda’s original post was uncertain as to whether this process would work and I couldn’t find any other threads on the same topic- I just wanted to confirm that it does!
