While I also don’t think that it’s the right last name for Marvin and agree that he shouldn’t have one at all, I wanna be the devil’s advocate for a second. It’s something that I have been thinking about ever since 2023.

You see, Marvin really wants to be an average middle class Jewish American straight guy. He wants to fit in, be like everybody else, but he can’t. So, in that sense, giving him the most common jewish last name makes some sense. It emphasizes his “ordinariness” or “averageness” (English isn’t my first language, so I hope you get what I’m tryna say)

But you know what emphasizes that even more? Marvin not having a last name at all. It sorta makes him a blank canvas. It gives him no personality, which is good, because that’s what Marvin wants.
