Every once in a while, I wish the friendship meter from the Sims was real so that way when people tell me "I used Chat-GPT" they can visually see just how much respect I just lost for them in that moment.

hotd tells the story of an undying love between two women which consistently overcomes the violence of war, feudalism, and patriarchy. the affection between rhaenyra and alicent weaves through the narrative to tell us something larger about misogyny, gendered violence, etc., that is far more compelling than f&b's incessant and arguably banal âmale primogeniture is bad,â thesis. rhaenyra and alicent are not âcodependent,â and hotdâs writing (with regards to this relationship) is not âmisogynistic;â this relationship is a representation of the power of love against seemingly insurmountable odds and the consequences of rejecting adherence to duty in an inherently corrupt sociopolitical system. rhaenyra and alicentâs dedication to one another sharply contrasts the brutality of the dance, compelling the audience to contemplate the futility of the conflict, the pervasive nature of misogyny, and, ultimately, the faculty of love as a means to combat suffering.

iâm not aromantic but i believe in their beliefs
for me being bi has contributed a huge amount to noticing all the ways in which romance and friendship run together and i think in general people would benefit from recognizing that romance and friendship are socially constructed categories used to describe a vast, nebulous, and often overlapping range of feelings

The Pitt literally has everything. Socially awkward and highly competent autistic coded character. Sarcastic asshole with a heart of gold. Nervous white boy with the saddest eyes youâve ever seen. Nepo baby child prodigy. Milf with a mysterious past. Noah Wyle. Need I say more

sometimes I think about the things Elphaba and Glinda compare each other and themselves to in For Good. Glinda calls Elphaba a sun and a boulder, and calls herself a comet and a stream. Elphaba calls Glinda a wind off the sea and a skybird, and calls herself a ship and a seed. and not only is that so loving it hurts, itâs also so real and in character. Elphaba is earth and growth and fire. Glinda is water and light and air.
something my brain has been thinking over is how the wizard having no powers basically shatters elphaba's worldview, but it actually reinforces glinda's in a lot of ways? like it essentially proves her thesis of "it's not about aptitude, it's the way you're viewed" / "did they have brains or knowledge? they were popular" etc. so to me it makes sense that she would be frustrated at elphaba's approach, because in glinda's eyes, it was just confirmed that the only way power is maintained in their society is through perception & image. i think the wizard has confirmed for her that perception has more impact than actual aptitude/skill, so she sees elphaba's approach as 'hurting her cause forever' even though elphaba does have more actual power and ability than the wizard.
elphaba does a 180 to breaking outside of the system because her belief in it has just crumbled, so she sees no value in adhering to it and trying to play by its broken rules. but glinda doubles down on staying inside, because its very flaws have actually further convinced her there's not a realistic path outside of it. interesting stuff

they make me SICK
That's enough! Pls make it stop MAKE IT STOP
When Everything Everywhere All at Once said âThe only thing I do know is that we have to be kind. Please, be kind, especially when we donât know whatâs going on"Â
When the Good Place said âWhy choose to be good every day when there is no guaranteed reward now or in the afterlife⌠I argue that we choose to be good because of our bonds with other people and our innate desire to treat them with dignity. Simply put, we are not in this alone.âÂ
When Jean-Paul Sartre said ââHell is other peopleâ is only one side of the coin. The other side, which no one seems to mention, is also âHeaven is each otherâ. Hell is separateness, uncommunicability, self-centeredness, lust for power, for riches, for fame. Heaven on the other hand is very simple, and very hard: caring about your fellow beings.â
Doctor Who is the only show where you could ever have a T-Rex and the birth of Christ in the same episode and have it not even be within the top 10 craziest things the show has done ďżź
I donât think we talk enough about how the entirety of Wicked is built on the irony of No One Mourns the Wicked. The musical exists because Glinda feels the need to tell Elphabaâs story, because she is in mourning and entirely alone in that. Glindaâs love is what creates the musical because no one mourns Elphaba except her, and that is an incredibly lonely place to be. Sheâs just lost two of the most important people to her, and all sheâs trying to do is make someone, anyone else see how important they were.
