* 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 / 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓.

    ⌠   JENNIE  KIM  .   SHE/HER  .   CIS-FEMALE   ⌡     ―     watch  out  ,  CAROLINE  PARK  has  crash - landed  into  roswell  !!   she  looks  TWENTY-FOUR  YEARS  OLD  and  celebrates  her  birthday  on  APRIL  11  .   she  is  from  roswell  ,  resides  in  AURORA APARTMENTS  and  is  currently  working  as  a  FLORIST  /  CLERK  AT  THE  STALK  MARKET  .

          “well, my sweet caro, do you really think they’d make someone who’s in for a petty crime share a jail cell with a murderer?” ziggy stops to ponder for a few seconds, pursed lips as they hum. “i mean, that’s a possibility but don’t you worry, she was in there for a bar fight. bruised eye and all.” at least, that’s what she had told them—and they believed her, of course.

and  caroline  would  argue  ,  remind  ziggy  that  this  is  roswell  and  most  policemen  lack  basic  common  sense  ,   but  they  give  in  and  accepts  the  possibility  ,  so  care  would  spare  her  .   and  a  smile  soon  appears  on  rosy  lips  .   “  do  i  even  want  to  know  what  you  did  to  get  yourself  arrested  ?   can’t  believe  i’m  friends  with  a  delinquent  .   i’m  just  an  innocent  flower  girl  .  ” 

“yeah  i  do,”  charming  leads  in,  eyes  on  the  other  rather  than  the  little  flame  flickering  between  them,  “i’ve  got  twelve  weeks  left  ‘til  i’m  done  as  a  junior.  i’ve  not  seen  you  around  the  dorms  at  the  station,  though,  lass,”  charming  takes  a  drag,  blowing  the  smoke  off  to  the  side.  her  thick  sussex(ish)  accent  still  very  much  present  as  she  continues;  “so  where  have  you  been  hiding  then?”  teasing  with  a  little  smirk  and  a  twinkle  in  her  blue-green  hues.

it’s  like  a  ritual  for  her,  as  the  deadline  approaches  for  the  next  column  of  the  daily  record  she  finds  herself  planted  at  crashdown.  a  light  dinner,  two  espressos  and  an  iced-coffee  later  and  she  feels  like  her  head  is  going  to  explode  from  staring  at  the  screen.  that’s  what  leads  her  outside,  table  held,  while  she  slips  across  the  street  to  stand  under  the  light  of  a  streetlamp  and  she  lights  a  weak  joint,  rolled  in  sweet  bubblegum-flavoured  paper.

it’s  caroline’s  fault  ,  but  she’d  never  admit  to  it  .   fingers  went  to  work  on  her  phone’s  screen  as  she  walked  without  a  care  ,  a  bouquet  under  arm  .   because  well  ,  she  didn’t  expect  a  body  to  be  parked  on  the  sidewalk  across  crashdown  .   “  for  fuck’s  sakes  .  ”   the  impact  propelled  her  a  few  steps  back  ,  she  almost  drops  her  phone  and  absolutely  ruins  the  flower  arrangement  .   “  no  ,  no  ,  no  …    this  is  your  fault  .  ” 

          “spent the night in jail yesterday. this lady and i shared a protein bar—she was so nice to me.” they casually comment, picking at loose strands from their ripped jeans. “but what did you do with your sunday night?”

creased  brows  visibly  shows  the  brunette’s  disbelief  -  more  over  the  fact  ziggy  was  potentially  befriending  a  criminal  .   and  yeah  ,  they  were  in  jail  too  ,  so  maybe  they  are  as  much  of  a  criminal  as  the  lady  in  question  .   but  can  you  blame  caroline  for  being  soft  for  them  ?   “  god  ,  ziggy  .   what  if  she  murdered  someone  and  you  were  there  ,  just  sharing  a  protein  bar  with  a  murderer  ?  ”

bard  zips  up  his  hoodie,  the  november  chill  hanging  in  the  air,  and  watches  arrow  dart  about  trying  to  catch  the  leaves  that  rush  across  the  ground  with  the  wind.  “i  bet  she’s  warm,”  bard  mutters  to  himself,  wrapping  both  hands  around  his  coffee  cup  to  bring  some  warmth  and  taking  a  sip.

“alright, let’s say you don’t have the best of relationships with your parents but they invite you to their annual hanukkah party for the first time in, well, maybe three years and you know they’re only doin’ this because they want to be involved in their grandson’s life but you still feel sort of happy that you’re bein’ included in the family again, despite being the reason you’re not close with them anymore yourself.” he sighs and looks at the person he’s talking to. “in this scenario, what would you do?”

the process of turning a house into a home sure seemed to be a long one. something barbie wasn’t really expecting when settling down in roswell. in her defense, she’d never moved anywhere with the intention of sticking around. in fact, it wasn’t until she had guests over and nothing to entertain them with that she realized just how EMPTY her home was. she’d learned to survive on little – it made the moving process easy. old habits were hard to break. still, she was here at feel good records, looking for something she could play while entertaining if she so desired. “excuse me?” she looks over to the nearest body. “if you wanted to play something while having guests over that says ❛ I’M SOPHISTICATED AND A HOMEOWNER, ❜ what would you suggest? other than abba, of course.”

the  bonfires  in  the  old  oil  barrels  take  the  ambient  chill  off  the  night,  charming  steps  away  from  the  chattering  and  chooses  a  seat  nearby  a  face  she  doesn’t  exactly  know.  but  they’re  cute,  so  fuck  it.    “hey  you.    got  a  light?”  she  lifts  her  cigarette  to  her  lips  with  a  smirk.

“that was actually what we’ve been talking about on our way back to the station–but poor girl, doing anything to impress some man, it wasn’t worth it by the way, he’s worse than unseasoned chicken.” the firefighter jokes. caroline has been the one who mostly looked after her after the accident, so bryce could never forget that worry that has been etched on her for months. she promised to be careful for her once she got back on the job. “god, your kimbap is just the best. you make it just the way i like it. but really…care, i wouldn’t know what to do without you, i hope you know that.” bryce gives her a genuine smile, holding her hand and intertwining their fingers for a moment. “bard–” she almost chokes on air, staring up at caroline. neither of them has told her what happened yet. “what do you mean thirst trap? a literal instagram post?”

his free hand lifted as if to plead his innocence , but without a bible or judge in sight it was unlikely his truth would be contested . “ not directly from the kids !! that’s what you get for not keeping an eye on your bowls . if there’s no limit the trick or treaters – me included – are gonna take our fair share , “ once caroline had taken first pick his own hand delved into the sack to pick out anything bright blue in color . some gummies were tossed into his mouth and happily chewed , artificial colorings bleeding through his teeth and staining the pearly whites cerulean . “ i think you criminally underestimate my capacity to eat sugar . i’m single-handedly keeping cosmic candy in business . i love the costume , by the way . “

Luis chuckled. “I know, I know, I work too much.” But it wasn’t easy to quit, he was always reminded that just an extra hour might save an extra life from being send back to a horrible situation. If he could save a family a week, if he could ensure the USA would allow them to stay, he would gladly give his weekend too. He looked away for a bit from her gaze, turning his head this way and that to not be able to see her anymore. “I promise I’ll stop right after I read my emails. I won’t even respond to them.” Just formulate a possible response all afternoon and maybe write it in the early hours on Sunday.

caroline  knows  about  luis’  honorable  work  ,  but  it  doesn't  really  stop  her  from  calling  him  out  when  she  believes  he’s  working  too  much  .   hell  ,  she’d  go  as  far  as  confiscating  the  man’s  laptop  if  needed  ,  but  he  promises  to  just  read  his  e - mails  ,  and  she  takes  the  offer  .   “  all  jokes  aside  ,  you  need  to  think  about  yourself  sometimes  ,  you  know  ?  ”   boy  ,  does  she  know  it  .   it’s  one  of  the  reasons  she  moved  into  aurora  apartments  .   “  do  you  want  a  mimosa  ?   or  some  orange  juice  ?   that’s  -  that’s  all  i  brought  .  ”  

“you know, if i were a worse person, i’d threaten to demote your pay or something for teasing me like that. luckily for you, i’m better than that. i’ll accept it… FOR NOW. but i’m going to get my rightful title back soon enough,” they joke. however, their face falls at caroline’s next joke. they can feel their heart pick up its pace before quickly looking away. “no,” she sighs. “just trying to even the playing field. THAT’S ALL.” their eyes quickly move back to the jenga blocks on the ground as they try to pick up as many as they can. they begin continuing the stack from the top of what was left of the old stack, trying to do it as quick as possible. “oh, definitely my sore loser side showing.” that and she needed a distraction from how out of place she felt, even beside her costume mate.
