I mean Mary already suffered quite a bit before meeting Adam, but then it’s just back to back to back… like LET HER BREATHE.

FIRST OFF - why did they spend so much time in their wedding episode learning that being blind and being a parent will be hard but they’re doing it together so they can do it JUST TO KILL THEIR CHILD IN THE MOST BRUTAL WAY POSSIBLE AND THEN NEVER LET THEM BE PARENTS AGAIN. Killing off their son was obviously just part of the “the Ingalls can’t have sons” rule (which somehow doesn’t apply to James???) and it was very apparent that he was only created so that Mary and Adam suffer more. NOTHING EVEN CHANGES - Mary and Adam don’t separate or even really suffer from PTSD or grief. SO WHY DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE??

The real Mary Ingalls never marries so if she gets a completely fictitious husband why the heck couldn’t she have a daughter? Her story already isn’t historically accurate so why not fib a little more and say she had a kid?

AND SECOND - Adam’s decharacterization actually pains me because WHAT. DO. YOU. MEAN. Adam Kendall, the man who when he first gets his sight back, only wants Mary and proceeds to tells her “oh my beautiful Mary. you’re more beautiful than I ever could have imagined” AS SOON AS HE SEES HER FOR THE FIRST TIME, also forgets about her as he starts to refigure his life? THAT MAN ADORES HIS WIFE AND THE WRITERS BURNED HIS WHOLE CHARACTER TO THE GROUND.

You’re telling me the writers could not find a single other way to write them out to New York and off the show without making Adam seem like a bit of a jerk? BOOOOOOO, THATS MY BOY. THEY RUINED MY BOY.
