8.common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Now TOL isn't big enough to really HAVE a fandom, let alone fandom opinions, so she gets a pass for tonight. For DHMIS though, the fandom idea that the three of them both would want to or SHOULD fit into a conventional family structure (i.e, red & duck as stand-in parents and yellow as their kid) IS SOOOO FUCKING INSANE TO MEEEE ITS SO NUTS. It always felt insane because we had an entire EPISODE dedicated to breaking down traditional family structures and literally looking at the camera and saying that while the three of them consider each other to be family, they don't fit into those structures at all and don't want to.

It also always felt weirdly infantalising to me that YG always got cast as the "kid" in those weird Happy Family fandom scenarios because he is a grown adult. Like has his own bank account, loves gambling, has had a child and been married twice grown adult. Anyways, not even that I'm a fan of it, but on Becky Joe and Bakers opinion, it seems the three of them have something notably way weirder going on (may I please remind everyone of the time the DHMIS drag queens BB&J collaborated with all kissed each other on stage. hello. where am i- NOT MENTIONING all the puppet yaoi those three have subjected us all to). THAT honestly just squicks me out even more when I see the weirdo bastardized fandom version of them where they're a Perfectly Normal Nuclear Family.

For Ososan, I would say it's the fandom idea that Karamatsu is a Super Macho Man that's crazy popular with his little fangirls. He's a notably feminine guy even naturally (him canonically pitching his voice down deliberately when he talks always makes me giggle a bit, esp how you can hear his "natural" voice when he gets startled). But he's also literally a dude who loves glitter and cutoff denim short shorts and wearing heels.

He's canonically bisexual.

Why are you all so deadset on making him the pinnacle of masculinity. Get your horrid gender roles away from my beautiful bisexual husband I hate all of you. If you don't like that he likes guys I don't like YOU.

This Place Does Not Exist is an animated series about a group of miscreant students and their journey through a reality-bending, infinitely-generating school with a mascot come to life as their teacher.
