But while cancelling Nitro and boycotting Discord CAN be a form of protest, it sadly may not be effective on its own. Why? Bc their hands are tied due to the recent trend in age verification bills worldwide.

This site helps send emails to your lawmakers to oppose certain Internet bills in the US, many of which would push age verification if passed HOWEVER, calling your lawmakers on the phone is most effective. If you're not in the US, you can still help by spreading the word. The only way to prevent age verification (On Discord and ALL other social media platforms) is to prevent the bills that are forcing it. Look at the site for more info

✅️ Sign as many petitions as you can.

✅️ Call, email, and fax your Senators and representatives about KOSA, the Screen Act, the BEARD bill, the HR 9495 bill, and COPPA 2.0.

✅️ Find alternatives for YouTube and refuse to use it at all on August 13th and for every day afterward until they remove their age verification policy.

✅️ Continue canceling YouTube Premium if you have it.

✅️ Cancel Discord Nitro if you have it.

✅️ Find and use Kickstarter alternatives.

✅️ Save everything that is important to you in multiple ways, so you're guaranteed to always have a copy. Cloud storage is most convenient, but can be expensive depending on the company offering it. USB and other types of traditional storage are always a good idea.

✅️ Protest loudly and often.

🚫 Submit ANY form of ID to ANY social media platform or website. It is imperative that you do NOT allow them access to your records (birth certificate, driver's license, financial information like credit or debit cards, etc.) or biometric data (face, eyes, fingerprints, etc.) because there WILL be a data breach and you WILL be identity thefted.

🚫 Comply with censorship regulations of any kind, especially in advance.

🚫 Believe this is to protect the children. IT IS AND WILL NEVER BE ABOUT PROTECTING CHILDREN.

it isn't law yet, however. so don't freak out, yet. or at all because the best thing you can do is be calm. it still has to pass senate and that's a fact.

keep calling your reps... especially the ones who have voted specifically for the kids act + kosa. reminder that these aren't the only bad bills they're passing. i forget all of them (since they total as 19, i believe) but the screen act and appstore accountability act are especially alarming.

call, email, fax, and write to your senators! resources are right down below as usual for easy access! (badinternetbills provides you an email script and the names of senators. it's super easy, anyone can do it with just a few clicks. if you don't feel like calling you can wait until after hours and leave a voicemail. you can always write a letter, but i'd advise you do that immediately so it's seen as soon as possible!

and if you can't do any of those, it's okay. just keep spreading the word and not only on tumblr. make videos to post online and persuade family into contacting local congress as well (but be careful with who you tell, because they might just be in favor of these bills)

I always say that we have to let the people know offline. Because I am not kidding when I say. Not a lot of people in copy cat anti-freedom countries. Like the u.s. do not use the internet for the news and do not know the dangers. We are doin great spreading the word online. Yet we really need to ramp up irl word spreading and talking to families and so on. Because if we don't the u.s. will suffer with their online freedoms revoked. Now call me crazy, yet remember how the u.s. leader is wanting EVERYONE to stop talking about epstein. Also them seeing how the u.k. wants to tackle with the removal of privacy, I am pretty sure all of you reading are catching on what I am putting down. Keep calling, emailing, and irl mailing reps and senators as well as governors and mention how you will not vote for them if they support the id check laws. Sign petittions against these laws, and keep spreading the word.
