2018 - Committed to passing the Equality Act

2019 - Has proposed a comprehensive housing plan that addresses societal homelessness, which disproportionately impacts the LGBTQ community

2019 - Committed to advancing policies that ensure fair treatment for transgender people who are targeted by police unfairly

Just because someone is gay or trans doesn't automatically make them a good advocate for the community, think of people like Milo Yiannopouls who is extremely transphobic, or someone like Caitlin Jenner that lets be honest set the community back a few years. Barney Frank, a gay man, and organizations like the HRC helped push trans people under the bus and used as a bargaining chip to pass an exclusionary ENDA. Hell the head of HRC at the time said trans rights would be recognized over her dead body!

By your logic, Ben Carson or Candice Owens are better advocates for the Black community than white allies who fought for Civil Rights (including one Bernard Sanders, but that's beside the point).

I know plenty of Jewish people who don't think Bernie is the best candidate for Jews in America just because he's Jewish himself - note I personally am a Jewish person he thinks he is, but it's because of his policies, not because he's also Jewish.

You aren't suddenly a better advocate for the community than someone who was fighting for the community before you were born just because you happen to be apart of the community.

So let me ask, in what ways will Pete Buttigieg be better than Bernie? What plans for advancing the community has he put forward? Is it more empty platitudes about how "this isn't us" or "the US can be better" or whatever? I follow politics pretty closely and I couldn't tell you outside some empty lines on his campaign website and saying he'd update the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include gay people (which literally every other Democratic candidate supports).
