Partial-Suit Samus reference sketch. This is what I based the whole 3D model off of
the elves in aramán are profoundly fucking sad. they're decaying. their people are completely unable to reproduce and they were created by the goddess of life. that feels like sylandri's real barrowdell. the elves as a dying people without her to sustain them.
This story from @guardian_us was mind blowing to me. What are your thoughts?

Having seen the Mandolorian movie I'm once again stuck thinking about one of my favourite star wars characters who got the strangest plot development: Sabine Wren.
Sabine, who went to the imperial academy and learnt she was being lied to by the empire and tricked into making a mandolorian killing machine. Sabine whose family she had to break away from because they were pro empire. Sabine, who was a bounty hunter until Kanan and Hera found her. Sabine, the resistance hero. And now apparently: Sabine the Jedi?
To this day I still don't understand why they decided in the Ashoka show to give her the force. I genuinely hate it. Most women in Star Wars are either inspirational leaders with a blaster, force sensitive or just evil. Sabine isn't any of that, she gets the treatment that's usually only for female jedi or men. She's a fighter who can keep up with anything and anyone. She never needed something other than her paint, explosives and blasters to win a fight.
So I find the decision to make her force sensitive so strange. Especially because in Rebels there's no lead up to this. When she's being trained by Kanan so she can learn to wield the dark saber, (in my opinion the most logical place to hint at force sensitivity) there's no indication of it.
And why this moment? She's been in dire situations before, why now the connection to the force? Why now the push? And don't get me started on midi-chlorians. Have we just completely thrown that out?
It does not make any sense to me. Why did Sabine need to be a Jedi? Who needed this??

Great.
I fucking hate it here.
The White House is negotiating a federal preemption of state AI laws in exchange for supporting the Hill's tech policy priorities.
> "Senator Blackburn is spearheading the negotiation with the White House to finalize legislative text of an AI preemption package that includes protections for kids, creators, and communities through the Senate version of KOSA, the NO FAKES Act, and age verification requirements", a spokesperson said.
Call/fax/write/email your representatives and spread awareness.
They care more about stopping states from destroying the fucking environment than the privacy and safety of children and everyone else who uses the Internet.
Because spoiler alert, the 'protections' are just them forcing age verification and censoring shit they don't like!

More of my wife
“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”
— Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)
Given how often solar eclipse are used to date historical events, I think an international calendar should begin on the day of the first recorded total solar eclipse.
If scientist are right about some Irish petroglyphs, it is currently the year 5365. Christ was born in 3340. The Egyptian middle kingdom period lasted from 1300 to 1558. The Ottoman empire took Constantinople in 4793. Star Wars episode IV was released in 5312.
Proto-writing systems emerged sometime between -40 and 240. The Olmecs emerged in roughly 2140. The Aztec Empire was founded in 4768. The Zhang dynasty began in roughly 1574.
