the spiderverse has really sad implications for certain characters that will never get fully explored but like. can you imagine realizing that you are the only indian man among all these white men? your name is a play on their names. your hometown is a play on their hometown, which is one of the biggest settler colonies ever. your entire life is turning a white centric story into an indian story and you know you are the outlier because there are so many of them. your friend is a trans girl with the backstory of all these men, as if her gender could be washed away, and she is dead in every other universe. she goes to work and grown men stare at her as the reincarnation of their first girlfriend. your other friend is a black man who lives in a fascist world. he gets to see the thriving universes of these white men, see their friendly relationships with the police that threaten his life every single day. still, his world has an indigenous captain america, a latina daredevil, heroes who are made of the type of people who actually know what need to happen to help the world. but all three of you are different kinds of outliers among swathes of similar white men that your story comes from and branches from. and then someone falls right into your lap, someone who has never come from that story and who poses a new question: what if you don't have to follow the script? what if you aren't an anomaly?
