A thread on Twitter this morning. Guys, don’t pirate comics. Please. Comics is a very small (mostly) creator run industry, so when you scan or torrent a comic, you’re directly hurting the creators. Even if you pirate comics from major publishers, you’re really only denying the creators of their income.

Artists/writers who work on comics make next to nothing. It’s commonplace in the comics industry for the people that make them to be constantly struggling to make ends meet. Just buy a book here and there. Support a Patreon. If you like the work, support it. We work very long hours to make the content you’re enjoying. We would like to not have to worry about how we’re going to buy food while we do it.

I usually don’t reblog on this blog (I do it at Syyssade) but I think this is important fact people should be aware of. If you have a chance, buy the comic you love so much. I am saving for Chester 5000xyv because it is an amazing comic which makes me laugh. I was between two hard places when I bought Deep Dark fears and it has brought me so much joy! And these are just the tip of an iceberg. I love comics! They feel expensive when you buy them at first, but they will bring you countless hours of priceless entertainment. Buying comics, prints and other merchandise from the creator enables them to make more content. Don’t take the bread away from their plate by pirating their products.

I know people typically ignore links and GoFundMe stuff, but It would mean everything to me if people would be willing to donate/share my GoFundMe campaign. I’m almost to the point where I can get SRS, and all that’s holding me back are a couple of costs for letters and a place to recover post-surgery.

If this thing got reblogged even half as much as one of my typical selfies, I may just be able to get there.

Hey, an update that isn’t about how bad life is! I’m as shocked as you are honestly.

So, the picture I’ve posted is from Our Non-Euclidean Life, a comic my partner and I are working on. It’s been a few years in the making, but come July, we’ll be rolling the comic out in earnest! We’re very excited for it, and not just because we’re the creators.

In a nutshell, ONEL is about the lives of Bunny and Vee a married couple based on ourselves. Vee is a trans woman of color, and Bunny is genderqueer, a pair of dynamics that doesn’t have nearly enough representation in media today. The comic is about their post-college life, and the weirdness they find themselves in when they are forced to restart their lives in a strange new town.

We’re trying to get the word out about it, and hopefully we’ll find a few more followers and readers as we get there. You can find us on twitter at @Onelcomic, and we’ll have a site up ready to go for the comic proper by July! In the meantime, Bunny and Vee have taken to the twitter, and are tweeting about their everyday lives leading up to the comic’s launch. So go check it out, follow, and if you’re intrigued, help us get the word out!

Going through stacks and stacks and portfolios and mailing tubes and drawers full of old artwork. I'm the kind of person who has kept every project, every drawing, from high school, college, and beyond. Some of this stuff I haven't seen in years. Some of it I had forgotten about. Some of it is actually really good; a lot of it is crap and reminds me how far I've come. Going through it makes me feel like an archeologist digging through the strata of my life. But I'm finally ready to move on. To begin the next phase of my life and leave some of the old behind. I'm finally throwing out some of those old terrible newsprint drawings, I'm going to try to find new homes for some of the better pieces , and proudly display some of my favorites.
