i will say. at least part of the success of vsmp was because vampires as a concept are SUCH a loaded topic (re: sexual assault, exploitation of the working class, general fear of The Other, queerness <— but be careful w that last one bc it’s not!!! the only allegory you should be considering!!! and trying to apply it when something else fits much better usually leads to Yikes moments) um not that most people in the fandom really recognized that but whatever. and greek mythology is also a pretty heavy/loaded topic despite what people generally think (rape, incest, unfair divine punishment, and outside of the source material the way that our idea of ‘ancient greece’ is often tangled up with our idea of ‘The West (tm)’ which causes uhhhh interesting interpretations etc) but there’s actually no way that pow will do anything interesting regarding those topics. and there’s especially no way that the fandom will engage with (or even acknowledge!) the darker parts of greek mythology. that being said, there WILL be shipping discourse along the lines of ‘omg you can’t ship the champions of artemis and apollo bc they’re basically sibling coded which is basically incest’
