Imagine this, if you will. It becomes an Autobot inside joke to blame the Decepticons for minor inconveniences, even if it’s completely unrelated to any Con activity. I’m talking stubbing your toes (pede?), dropping something, consoles being slow, that sort of thing. For some Autobots, it gets more and more specific because it’s really funny to curse out That One Con for not putting in a code correctly the first time or what have you.

Now, imagine this carries over to after the war. On the Lost Light, some mechs just say it instinctually because it’s become a habit over millenniums of war. Megatron would be a common victim of this blaming, not because he’s on the ship, but because he was the Warlord of the Decepticons and it’s just been integrated into Autobot vernacular.

Ran into a doorway? Damnit to the pit, Megatron.

Tripped over your own pede? Megatron, how could you?

Put in your own password wrong more than once? Must be Megatron’s fault.

Lots of other ‘Cons get their names dropped as well, of course, but they aren’t there to hear it. Everytime Megatron overhears this he’s just like. ???? What??? How is this my fault???

Bonus points if nobody will explain it to him (or any other con/ex-con on board.)

Rodimus wakes up and is filled with dread because he has to pretend to be completely satisfied with his life and then goes to bed overwhelmed with guilt because how does he have the audacity to be unhappy when there are much worse situations to be in (this has to be way he's unworthy) (this is why he isn't good enough to live up to Optimus) (this is why his crew hates him) (this is why he needs to uproot his entire life and get rid of himself and start over because there are better mechs out there than him).
