i always feel really uncomfortable when two heavily tattooed people have a baby and the baby comes out blank idk i just expect some tattoos
blank
One of my dear friends is a tattoo artist (and his wife is heavily inked), and their child asked “How old will I be when the pictures start to appear?”
oh jesus that’s adorable.
That would be an awesome plot device for a story.
REBLOG IF YOU HAVE STRETCHMARKS
me: [at work, ringing up two parents and their toddler who's sitting in the cart trying to get their attention]
toddler, quietly, waving hands around: [incomprehensible]
mom: what?
toddler, even quieter: [incomprehensible]
dad: you gotta speak up, bud
toddler, at full volume: FUCK.

You come to the realization that the tall metal fences surrounding the orphanage aren’t made to keep the children safe from the public, but to keep the public safe from what’s inside.
thunderstorms or fireworks? heroes or villains? gryffindor, ravenclaw, hufflepuff or slytherin? scary stories by the fire or reminiscing by the ocean? gilmore girls, parks and rec or friends? dreamer or realist? read the book before the movie or after?

#get with the program the new humor is benevolent surrealism (x)
I always wanted to know what to call it.
This is something I’ve been meaning to talk about, and I may do a full blog post at some point, but here’s a capsule version:
The Benign Violation Theory of humor, which is probably the best one out there, suggests that something is perceived as funny when it is simultaneously perceived as violating how the world “should” work and as benign. Something like the “gun” meme, for example, is funny because it violates our sense of how a joke should progress, and at the same time it’s harmless.
Racist/sexist/etc shock humor violates our sense of how the world work–in either a “that’s not true!” or “you’re not allowed to say that!” way–and therefore whether you find it funny is based on whether you find it benign, which is to say either you think it’s harmless or you don’t care about the people it harms. (This is the root of the punch up/kick down distinction–jokes that punch up are funnier than jokes that kick down because the people they target are less vulnerable and therefore less likely to experience harm.)
So yes, science agrees that if you think racist jokes are funny, the reason is that you don’t care about the feelings of the people the joke is about. There’s a word for that.
i hate when the teacher’s like “write about a bad time in your life” like i ain’t tryna get a social worker up my ass, thanks tho fam
HEY yall ever do that thing where u try to pull up a blanket, but u lose ur grip and just punch urself in the face? joseph christiansen does that every single night
Mildly Interesting

“Your art isn’t valued by the number of notes you get” okay but. If you spent 6 hours baking a cake for a party, but no one at the party eats your cake, it’s still disappointing.
This articulates something about the different between value and validation that I didn’t previously register on a conscious level.
I love how the first thing I do after not being home for two days is eat a hot pocket
